America is built on some 18th century version of philosophy and understanding of the world in general and human beings specifically, and they stick to it come hell or high water. The less it works out the more feverish they latch onto those principles.

It is disingenuous to compare a country with only a ~10 million total population to one of over 300 million in population. With an increase in population more facets are added to the dynamics of the population on both a micro and macro scale.

Compare it to the EU then which is about 500 million people and we STILL don't even come near you guys when it comes to incarcerated people.

Matters little what you say, it's a government entity with judicial power over a large area and ruled by a body of men who are elected on the basis of Parliamentary democracy.. It has it's own courts, constitution and a head of state.
It's by definition a country... We're just not pussy whipped by the feds like you people.
