Wow, talk about delusional. I live in one of the most public transportation concentrated cities in the U.S., if you think public transportation is any kind of ultimate solution, you clearly don't know jack about the real world.
You could take every American in the U.S., herd them into cities and still not have a viable public transportation only solution.

There are no guarantees in life, or in the world in general.
If you never experiemnt and try to develop and refine things that harness and run off other than coal+oil, then you will NEVER succeed.
Of course people who pride themselves on being an igorant conservative (in the real sense of the word), will define the old, established combustion engines as optimal forever for all purposes, and discard anything else.

It's not the end all be all solution. No one said it is.
But wages are stagnant and the cost of private transportation is going up.
So I'll ask you, how are people going to get around?
We need reliable, affordable and sustainable transportation. How are we going to do it?
Without it our economy is doomed.

Obama's failings and cronyism do not remove the need for alternative sources of energy and new ways to transport people.
Those are realities we are facing.
What are we going to do? You have yet to offer a solution.

If you try to make 'public transportation would help alleviate some of the economic stress of the lower classes' and turn it into 'LULZ every1 shud ride da bus!' then you really are being either shortsighted or intentionally obtuse. Nobody said everyone should abandon their cars and only use public transportation.

Again, putting words into peoples' mouths. Nobody said it was THE solution, that fixes everything. It would take some of the load off, which could make all the difference - and is more than just continuing to live in the current setting seems to be doing.
