Guns are insanely expensive nowadays

Not really relative to inflation and such over the past 15 years or so...

In fact, you can buy a semi-auto pistol that is perfect for self defense or competition (in the stock division) for $500. The same pistol may have cost $50 less 10 years ago.

Ammo is the pricey part of being a shooter nowadays. Ammo costs have more than doubled in less than 10 years.

Do you know anything at all about this one?

Looks like a pretty stupid contruction.

Or just an artists idea of some kind of fantasy firearm?

Not from personal experience, no.

I believe though that Regulator_cracka, Koneg, and maybe Ros have some experience with Kel-Tec firearms.

I WILL have some experience with the brand myself within the next year or so... there are two Kel-tec guns on my wish list, but not for carry guns - which is not to say that I think Kel-tec makes bad carry guns but that I just have a lot of trigger time and familiarity with my present carry gun.

For a carry gun, I go with Glock - a lot of that is personal bias - but in my mind, when it absolutely positively has to go BANG, I go with Glock.

I could wikipedia an answer for you, but I'm feeling lazy. iirc this was a french design that predated the common revolver and used black powder with separate percussion caps affixed to the back of each barrel. Its an extreme version of that kind of design, but not imaginary.

That is an artist's drawing of one, but guns like that were most definitely manufactured. They pretty much stopped being made in the late 19th century to the best of my knowledge.

I'm a suburbanite and definitely not a rwn and I see the appeal of firearms. Have you spent time on a range or in other ways had personal experience with firearms in general? If not, I totally recommend skeet shooting as a starting point.
