You never know when I might have to Stand My Ground some morning on the freeway, or in the donut shop osemthin. It's a scary world full of people who leave me in fear for my life.

That's pretty much the worst conceivable option I can think of for a carry pistol out there, but it's damn neat from a historical/collector perspective.

Interesting fact: that pistol doesn't qualify for any of the various handgun registration laws or even background checks in order to purchase in the nation (not 100% sure about CA, NJ, etc.) because it's black powder, percussion cap fired.

Another interesting fact: That revolver only fires one shot per trigger pull to the best of my knowledge as well.

Right, 24 barrels, estimated 45-60 minute reload time, but fires reasonably quickly once loaded.

also, hella heavy to hold and aim.

I seem to remember an episode of sons of guns where a dude brought one of those in.

They did, although unless I am remembering incorrectly, the one on Sons of Guns was pin fired rather than percussion cap as the illustration in the OP seems to indicate. Either way, it's a very cool curio/collectible. I've actually held and fired a modern reproduction of a 6 barrel percussion cap revolver of a similar nature.

Not really relative to inflation and such over the past 15 years or so...

In fact, you can buy a semi-auto pistol that is perfect for self defense or competition (in the stock division) for $500. The same pistol may have cost $50 less 10 years ago.

Ammo is the pricey part of being a shooter nowadays. Ammo costs have more than doubled in less than 10 years.
