If you ever want to get one to melt down, just mention how you just finished Atlas Shrugged and what an awesome book it was. You'll get a lot of free entertainment value out of it.
The book is a lot longer than it needs to be, but she has a lot of specific examples that could be taken directly from today's headlines.
The problem is that she takes those examples and misapplies philosophy to them, sounding nutty in the process. You can take a selected quote that makes her sound profound (like Aerglebargle did), but in context of the rest of her book, or even the same page, it's loopy.

That line doesn't really play. Anyone who has gone to a college worth half a spit should know about Rand and Atlas Shrugged as a 'contrararian' point of view, a view taken by some, or as a fallacy to be viciously picked apart. Depending on the slant of your particular college.
Otherwise, your college just pretty much sucked.

LWNs are obsessed with her. They foam at the mouth and accuse anyone one who doesn't spit on her book of being a "Rand bot".
I think they spend about 10 times as much time thinking about her as these "Rand bots".

 I forgot you are an expert on all things! I might have heard of her in college. That was in 1982-1986. I am pretty sure that I would have not given her a second thought if I did after I read whatever about her. I hardly think UMASS sucks, but again I forgot you are an expert on all things.

Rand was quite popular among a subset of students when I was in college, mostly the women seeking empowerment thru feminism, veganism and unshaven legs segment who believed they had discovered hidden truths through her writing.
