The problem with the refugee boards is that there will never be any new users stumbling in.
That's not necessarily true.
The same thing happened to a bunch of us who used to hang out at the Compuserve Gaming Boards, back in the day. We had a thriving community for a decade, then, the various game companies started their own forums and this newfangled thing called the internet started sucking away people. The gaming forums eventually closed. So, a bunch of us regulars started something very similar to the refugee board. That was 8 or 10 years ago and we are still going strong.
Now, we don't get a lot of new blood but we do get a few new folks, mostly from meeting them in games we play. And we're a fairly closed society. I suspect this refugee board could end up with a critical mass of folks that would ensure a regular supply of new folks. Same with Planet Fury, though, I suspect, their main demographic is different from the usual Outpost demographic.
Anyway, I'll probably be hitting all three for the near future.
