Guild wars 2 is going to be 3 realms as well, except they're having the realms be servers instead.
So instead of Alb vs Mid vs hib, you'll end up with Merlin vs Lancelot, vs Perc
they group 3 different servers together and have them fight it out in a frontier.

I've talked this feature to death with everyone I know and yet I still feel the urge to add

I'd rather fight different classes/races than my own realm's, but it could be fun.

The one idea I really like behind GW2's 3 servers facing off is that you won't run into as many balance issues caused by things like aesthetics and realm-based themes. Even in daoc's 3-way war there has always been a population imbalance with alb coming out on top.

This Jumpgate Evolution sounds pretty cool. Decades of sword swinging MMOs, its time for a change.

I doubt every GW 2 server will have the same population, so population imbalance will still be an issue. I don't know if they have any plans to only match up servers with similar populations. It would seem inevitable though that they'll run into some match ups where you'll have 2 medium/large servers and 1 small server.
