Vista doesn't like it when a program tries to alter files located in your "Program Files" directory and you are not running it in Administrator Mode.

Unfortunately the Program FIles directory is the default installation location for the DAOC game client. This is why when Mythic made the game client Vista compatible they moved the character data and log files out of the game directory and into user specific directories. Vista doesn't complain when the game modifies files in those directories. Unfortunately they did not switch the path of the UI\custom folder so changes made in that directory by programs such as the OptionChooser Vista will still complain about.

On my system I have the game client installed in a seperate partition and directory called D:\Mythic\LotM. Vista and Windows 7 do not complain when the Option Chooser program makes changes to the UI files in that location.

I had that too. I just re-installed BobsUI, and it cleared it (I had just moved from XP to Windows7, so have put it down to that)

if you are just opening the optionschooser try rightclicking and "run as administrator" should do the trick.

Quick question... is it possible to disable the status bar skin? I just like using the floating bars. Thanks in advance~!

Run the OptionChooser program.

Select the option called Floating HealthEndPwr.

There are several styles without a background available.

Hi Shul - I am having some frustrating issues. First I have new laptop - for some reason when downloading the 5th anny cd version of DAoC it loads to 2 sections on my C drive. When I download your UI (Which I have on other comp and love and want back!) it downloads fine, the files are there and the options chooser opens I go thru and select my preferences and close the window. I then open LoTM, set it no "No, Thank you" and make sure in my options it says "Custom UI". At this point, 1 of 2 things happens 1) The programs shuts down 2) The game starts and Atlantis UI shows up. And if I try to reopen the options chooser and make changes - when I to go to close it, I get an error.

"Unable to write to crogram Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Dark Ages of Camelot\LoTM\UI\Custom\\options chooser.ini."

Having said that and reading back to your post regarding this. I changed the names in both sections of the C drive. I redownloaded it - the folder I had renamed, was changed to the one from your UI. Thought, ok maybe this will work now. I again, open up LoTM, made sure options are set to Custom UI. I get the same results. I can not get this to work and its making me very very sad!!!!

Please let me know what to do...I miss my UI horribly. (I'm running Windows Vista)

Ok, I finally got it working - along with the options chooser.

I had to run off the main C drive program files. I changed the name on the x96 program file so that it would not interfere with the other. I re-downloaded bobs and it worked. But still had issues with the options chooser - once I had the otions chose I closed it and it worked the first time - but then couldnt get it to work again. I right clicked and chose run as administrator and now I have a perfectly working UI.

I'm not complaniing about the UI, I never had this isssue on my other comp - but the way they made vista run it makes it frustrating to install. I can't imagine someone who has no clue what they are doing behind the scenes in a computer would do in this situation.

Anyways - another satisfied happy camper UI user.

I know how to modify the Option Chooser program to prompt for Admin access in Vista but the user will get a warning about it being an unsigned application every time they run it.

To get rid of the unsigned application warning I would need a code signing certificate from a company such as VeriSign which would cost me around $500US a year and I don't think that is worth it to me. To be honest, I am not familiar with what other companies are available to issue a code signing certificate and what their prices are.

--- on another note ---

I have been working with creating a custom ui installer for my next release of BobsUI but it is not finished.

I want it to scan all your hard drives for each location of the game client you might have installed and prompt you which one to install the UI with.

I have the scanner portion of the installer working. It is multi threaded but still takes about a minute to scan through the 20k or so folders on my hard drive the first time I run it after a reboot of my PC. If I run it a second time (after vista has cached all the folder names) it takes less than 2sec to run the scan. I don't think I can optimize the scanner to work much better than that so I am moving on to other parts of the installer program.

It is a work in progress and I have been busy with things in RL so I have only been working with it off/on when I get some free time.

Here are some screenshots of what I did so far with it.

Great UI. I'm only seeing one problem, when training,if I train in my class skills, and try to train in realm abilities, it tries to train in my class skill unless I close the window and talk to the trainer again. I am using the midgard ghouls skin. Is this a known problem and if so is there a fix on the way? and if not, am I missing something? I have not tried this with other skins. Thanks much.
