The only way Mythic could allow dred xfer is by removing all the gear from toons that wish to xfer. Xrealm templates pose a problem for balance if they started getting into Ywain rvr. Alternatively Mythic could introduce all the xrealm loot to Ywain, but that would probably be more involved that stripping toons of everything except plat on xfer.
This is the basic conundrum we face when contemplating Mordred's future. The answer is not a simple "just transfer the remaining characters" due to inconsistencies between the two rulesets.
We are currently considering allowing direct copies of characters from Ywain to Mordred, however we are not going to make any decision that will negatively impact the health and play experience of Ywain.
I hope you are aware that there have been numerous people canceling their accounts in preference of the free PvP based DAoC emulated server. Of those, many would at least try their free two weeks to get a taste of the renaissance of Mordred. A handful of these people would reactivate permanently.
This is just something to chew on for you guys.

Mordred will never be a stable server with a good population. It used to be when there were thousands playing this game and a small percentage of that played Mordred. As populations dwindled, Mordred took a huge hit. PvP rulesets just generally don't work out well in games. Players can't handle the griefing. As opposed to relying on realm mates you can really only rely on guildmates.
I honestly think Mordred should be wiped and removed. I used to play it during the first 2 years of its release, but I knew it wouldn't last. Realm vs Realm is the closest you will get to PvP without people whining too much. EQ2's PvP server was similar. You had the 2 realms and eventually a 3rd. But completely open PvP like Mordred and old UO (before T2A and Felucca/Trammel) just never pans out.
Even UO's Siege Perilous server was ultimately a flop. They tried releasing a pure open PvP server to suit the masses, but they made it incredibly difficult to play on.
I don't know about that - you can grief the crap out of people in WoW in most regions of the game but it hasn't affected WoW's subs too badly...
Personally I think as long as the game is good (ie: compelling content, balanced, interesting classes/skills, etc), then people won't really care if they get griefed every now and again.

The 12 Mordred players left will probably hate me for saying this. But I liked the idea Mythic had earlier of making PvP battlegrounds on Gaheris, moving Mordred players there, and getting rid of the PvP server.
The playerbases are completely incompatible. If they moved Mordred characters to Gaheris, most of Gaheris (With a far healthier, albeit still small, population) would quit. The increased re-subs from Mordred would be offset by the loss of Gaheris subs, and probably outgained by it. That's before Mordred even sets foot on Gaheris. Some of those who stuck around would then quit later after being exposed to the Mordred playerbase.

I don't think this is even a little likely. Not that many people wanted to play on Mordred when DAoC was in its heyday.
its comments like this caused by faded memories and crap that make no sense to me...
back in the day, when andred/mordred were new... they were hitting the server caps for months..
andred/mordred had larger playerbase then classics for a longer period of time then classics...
yes they crumbled eventualy, as new expansions and classes made things harder on the dreds... but still.. the dreds were very popular back in camelots heyday.
it just rotted from the inside from a combination of new content that was incompatible with the ruleset and anti-social and annoying playerbase.

So you're basically admitting your team has been paralyzed to come up with any solution. It really doesn't take much effort to find a suitable compromise in either direction. I mean, there is absolutely no motivation to play on Mordred right now, so the characters are useless. To lose your cross realm items is a small price to pay over having nothing at all. To reset mordred is also no loss. Mordred held 500-1500 players quite strongly until warhammer came, and it was near the population cap for its first couple years. So I don't see how you could hurt your population by giving these players a reason to come back to your game. If this is your conundrum, and you're not willing to do anything about it now, and this conundrum obviously won't ever disappear, then why don't you just admit that Mythic will no longer do anything to help Mordred until it closes?
Are you waiting for some sort of miracle, or are you just leading your customers on like you did with origins and other notions you've started irresponsibly over the years into your customers' minds so you can retain subscriptions? Its been over a year since Mythic first discussed helping Mordred players have use of their characters and it has sat on its hands ever since.

All the content required cooperation. Which just didn't work very well on Mordred and shouldn't have ever been an option on Mordred. Things should have been done differently with the expansions for Mordred.
I just don't see Mordred ever being viable again. I'd go back in a heartbeat if my guild ever came back to daoc, but they won't.

Faded memories and crap? I never saw faded crap, but I guess if you leave it long enough.
Anyway, what percentage of the total DAoC player population did the dreds represent back when the game was at max popularity? Just be generous and apply that same percentage to the current population and see how many you come up with. What is it, like 400? Maybe? There's more people playing Battlefield 1942 in Milwaukee right now. Ok, I don't actually know that, but I imagine the two groups to be in roughly equal demographic positions.
Personally, I think the dreds were like a honeypot defense. If they didn't have those PvP ruleset servers all the twits that played on them would have been out among the normal game population. Mordred and Andred were like Roach Motels.

Thousands of people have played Mordred. Considering Mordred held over 2000 players in game at any time for its first couple years, that would be quite a lot of accounts activated during that time, and a lot of people who have characters on the server and enjoyed that rule set. You're quite bitter, but there is no need to put down Mordred and its players with lies and negative speculation.
