The Foil Hat of Swirling Thoughts is an out-of-combat insta-teleport that is excruciatingly handy to have. You have to be level 7 to 15 or 48+ to get this quest. Look for a guy with a cat in your nearby lowbie starter town, or read up on it: Saving Zarees lvl 7 Mid, Saving Zarees lvl 7 Alb, Saving Zarees lvl 7 Hib. Level 48 and higher characters have to do a slightly different version.

I've also recently come back, I left the summer of 2008 when dragon farming was in high fashion. I've been trying to catch up on changes to gear from around or after the time I left, this is what I've gathered:

Old things that have changed:
- Upgraded ML10 armor, cloaks, weapons; can remove all but 1 armor and keep cloak
- Upgraded legendary weapons
- Upgraded SI epic chestpieces
- Upgraded classic epic armor
- New SI dragon loot (including TOA damage)
- Some classic dragon loot normalized across realms (Soulbinder's Belt, etc.)
- New dragon mythirians (questable I believe)
- Dragon scales buy dragon epics and classic/SI dragon items
- Atlantean glass buy artifacts/ML's, also legendary components and guaranteed MP crafting tools
- Afrit kills & afrit essences produce TOA encounter drops

Seasonal / temporarily available quest rewards:
- Medal of Honor/Ghostly Medal of Honor neck (utility)
- Doppelganger/springtime bracelets (utility)
- "Infernal" sleeves (power regen or health regen)
- "Samhain" halloween hats (TOA damage, baby Zo charge, baby Malice reverse proc)

If I'm missing anything significant, let me know!

My understanding is that glass drops of all "intelligent" mobs. I would guess this excludes insects/crocs/birds and stuff like that. I think it includes statues.

It would be friggin' awesome if you guys would sticky something like this with updates. I started playing eight years ago and come back when I start getting the shakes, but every time I do I spend days scouring the googlez and the boards. I've tried all kinds of games but I can't shake this one.

Basic horse quest, very useful (level 10 and up):

Mid

I don't see a write up for Hib and Alb. But, should be similar quests.

You can get the basic horse through a quest if you stay in the starter area as well. It's a decent place to begin, although leaving long enough for the Tin Foil Hat is an absolute must.

Can start farming glass around 33ish, if first coming back it's a good time to start hitting up the GoLM and/or Orion's belt mobs and then the statue's and harpy's in the area drop some glass and scrolls for those two useful arti's.

WWW, I'd love to create a "10-Spot" list of leveling places for those who aren't Task Dungeon inclined. Harpies, Statues, and mini-Afrits and a good choice.

Oh and to add to my To-Do/Info List for New Old Players
16) You can re-allocate the characters STARTING POINTS: select your character in the lobby, click the Customize button, then the Adjust Attributes button.

Hey all,

I haven't played in several years and I'm now nearing the end of the 14 day free trial.

Here is what I've managed to do / figure out. ((Note I had a ton of plat from way back when))

I transferred to Ywain.
Went to ToA Ruins and bought ML's for old Bounty Points and Glass (which I bought in housing)
Went and talked to the king to start CL's. ** Is it right that any xp I earn will go toward CL now? **
Bought a horse.
RvR'd a couple times (RR2.2). With no guild it is fairly difficult to get in a Battle Group.
Farmed dragonscales in Dartmoor and bought some dragon items.
This character is a reaver with a sort of crappy template because I'm from classic and have no arties currently - a few dragon items and player crafted.

Lvl'd a new character, theurg, up to 37 and have purchased 5 artis (gem of lost memories, orions belt, taldors staff, and 2 i cant wear yet - maddening scalars and guard of valor)

So I think I'm off to a good start.

Questions.
How do I get a RvR horse?
And where do recruiting guilds post? I really should get into a guild that battlegroups.
What do I need to know about CL's?
And with dragon scales, if I purchase one of the 150x gems from the dragon npc in the capitol city, can I really trade that for a piece of armor?

It has truly been a pain trying to figure all this crap out on my own. This thread is such a good idea.
