Author Topic: My Umteenth Rant Against Pets Comming through CK/Tower Doors [Locked]

My wife and I play mainly in Molvik.We have played the game on and off since inception.I cannot recall anything that outrages myself, my wife and many players than pets coming through CK and tower doors.Many players have been complaining since the inception of this OP class and this exploit.I am complaining AGAIN.I logged into the Molvik ck this morning and found more Bone Dancer pets than players inside the ck. Yes it was that bad. The pets can run faster than you can....they are 3 on one and a guaranteed kill every time they attack unless you are helped by another player to stun/mezz, then kill the commander.And the player who sent them...not a chance to touch them..they are hiding in a tower. They wait, then expose themselves to an attack so their pets can hunt down and kill the player. THIS MUST BE FIXED.(ignoring this demand...Mythic looses my $30/month subscription...which doesn't seem meaningful given how the game has been already been driven into the ground with previous actions/inaction)

Since this rant has been ignored in the past ,I'm guessing that a coding fix on the doors may be "difficult".What about a timer on pet creation.Spells have timers.Make pet creation take longer(3 minutes minimum)would slow down the onslaught.What about a HIT POINT reduction to the caster, like a necro takes when their pet dies?

Yep. Another example of mythic quality work. This has been broken for 6 years. Some things have been badly bugged since 2001 and remain broken.

Yup - just like Theurg pets and Chanter pets ... but your not complaining about your own realm's pet exploit huh?

Pathing is incredibly complicated (and slow) code. Pathing through a 3D world where both targets are moving, pathing trees have to be updated, bottlenecks have to be identified, multiple states such as whether or not the door between the two of you is open or not, etc, all make pathing difficult to implement, and impossible to fix by someone who isn't familiar with the initial coding job. The only way Mythic could possibly fix pathing at this point is to scrap the existing code entirely and re-write the ENTIRE thing from scratch. That would be a prohibitively expensive undertaking.

This was broken and poorly written on day 1.The decision to go forward with this mess was made even though it was screwed up.And yes ALL pets should not go through doors...as I said on the headline of my post(poor try at deflecting the issue btw).

And as I said..if bla bla bla ...too hard..... too expensive...put pet creation timer on..or better yet damage penalty like a necro gets when his pet dies.Don't tell me THAT can't be done.You know there is an expense for not fixing this ..it's called canceled subscriptions and negative forum commentary that stops people from even subscribing in the first place.

Other pet classes aren't even remotely the same as a necro and the only way this would be a fair compromise to other pet classes would be if they couldn't be attacked until the pet(s) had died. And if they're overpowered now... think what they'd be like then. Personally I think they thing that makes BDs so OP in the BGs isn't so much the amount of pets, but rather the built in charge ability they get which makes them so hard to CC. (Also a problem with necros.)

The pets don't even have to go through the doors. On my menty I can summon some ranged mob and they will actually shoot through the walls.

Yes..the pets can out run you.Solo it's 3 vs one and a sure kill for the BD.The pet range seems unlimited and they have a very long timer until they disappear.

The ruby similacrums are still nuking through tower walls, too. If you're ungrouped, you will eventually die to it with no way to target the pet back or cast through the interrupt it gives.
