I have little hope for RIFT, and GW2 is perhaps a year away.Anything else that one should watch for..or consider ?

Nothing that I can see that is an alternative in the PvP department.

Only game that sounds like it wants to provide a daoc like RvR experience is GW2.. but what devs promise and what actually comes out, rarely matches. It does lack a sh.t load of classes compared to daoc though (has only 8 classes afaik), which I thought was also one of the important features in what makes daoc what it is. Another thing most MMO's do different is they just share the same classes between the competing realms.
At least PvP in that game was part of the design... not an afterthought like in most games (including RIFT).

Is there anything like DAoC that offers 3 realms battling, one of the most popular legendary story lines, a plethora of races and classes, facial features that actually look like the race and not an Asian with round eyes, and women toons that don't look like HOs (I mean - tanks in high heels and low cut tops? - just sayin' ? IMO, No.
As an "older" female player, this is what just brought me back to the game (yesterday, actually) after being away for over a year. During that time, I've downloaded and played most of the popular/new mmorpgs out there, and nothing imo comes close. Allods Online and WoW (yes, I admit it) are the only ones that got and kept my attention for any length of time.
I wish DAoC could update their interface and perhaps re-vamp and re-market this game to the younger crowd. It's still a fantastic game - flaws, bugs, and all!

Bob's UI...the beta vesion will help you with a much better UI.
game wise...GW2 offers a promise of rvr.All others I've seen AKIA....3 Heroes are Asian games.
My gripe with current DAOC...it's the Trials of Atlantis version(which I have always disliked)...and its filled with veterans who live, breath, sleep, the game. They are very knowledgeable and have very developed characters. They really really know how to play their characters well.So the noobies....they get "harvested".I have just felt I didn't want to get that deep into templates and artifacts. My problem is I'm just too competitive...yet I didn't want to pay the price in this game, to become competitive.

Any game where the company actually cares about its customer base is a good alternative from this game.

GW2 looks really good. Well-run company largely devoid of the incompetence of Mythic.
