From Stephen Reid.... (You can look it up on their site under dev tracker.)
Jeff Hickman’s role as Executive Producer, Live Services, does not put him in charge of BioWare Austin, or the development of Star Wars: The Old Republic. The job description quoted in this thread is not for Jeff’s position. He is ultimately in charge of all teams that interact and interface with customers in the live game. That does not include, at any point, direct decisions about the game’s development itself. Game development is still ultimately handled by Rich Vogel’s team, with James Ohlen as Lead Designer.
BioWare Austin is made up of a huge and diverse mix of development staff, from all across the games industry. We’re proud of just how many MMO veterans we have on staff; many senior developers here have shipped multiple MMOs, which is a rarity. That collective experience is going to help us ensure that The Old Republic boasts a level of service that’s up to the standard you expect from Star Wars and BioWare.
He isnt controlling anything with the game. Hope that helps.
The fact that Bioware has to release such a statement on their website over this move should pretty much clear it up as far as questions go about this mans reputation in the gaming industry. I mean seriously, moving one man over to another game caused such a fire that they had to post about this to calm the various gaming communities down.
I do like how they posted "He isn't controlling anything with the game". They should have added "...for now". A few more backstabs and he will be lead designer in no time. R.I.P. SWTOR.

I agree on all counts. Not sure if his MO though would fly with BioWare. My guess and hope is 'no'.
I mentioned earlier, I was on a few sites, Jeff is quite well known.

Side note on the Warhammer subject.
Before it even released there was tons of vapor ware bs over the game and i was horribly skeptical of the game because of it. I also have a lot of mixed feelings on the game, it had some amazing concepts. during closed beta games workshop pulled rights which forces the team to scrap large chunks of content. The part gives me mixed feelings about the game is it had great Low Level RvR. But the End game RvR was Freaking horrible and Broken and the worst kind of grinding ever. In contrast it was nice to run SCN's when ever you wanted from anywhere... But some of the SCN's were fairly broken. The most frustrating thing was Mythic's trade mark nerf hammer. People are upset about something ohh lets just nerf the entire class. Ohh that class is broken and useless, we will leave it alone till we nerf all the other classes.
In the end it was the same games they did with DAoC, break the things people like. Nerf everything till its dead and hope someone else will fix the project after they have left.
And last but not least cheating is ok till 1/2 the community is doing it then ban everyone.

Their jackbooted thuggish tactics in closed beta forced anyone out who disagreed with the game direction of war. They also lied about what they would release.

To be fair to the guy, if the whole fiasco with Bioware employees giving Dragon Age 2 5 star reviews which later ended up on Metacritic is any indication of how Bioware and EA does things these days then he should fit in fine.

Got to love how every new MMORPG that comes out seems to be composed of staff recycled from all the previous MMORPGs and yet they wonder why each new MMORPG fails miserably...I guess they forgot the adage, Garbage In Garbage Out.

Just wanted to opine on NF..
I understand all the hate for NF now (TOA deserves it then and now) but back when NF was coming out, I personally was excited for it. I think back then most of us were ready for a change. As time went on, we all missed Emain and didn't like the insta planet-side porting and all that.
I think NF gets a bit too much hate. It was a good idea and a great change of pace at the time. Just as time goes by, we all decided we liked OF better.
A lot probaly depends on what class you were at the time as well. Myself, a Scout got huge initial buffs from NF where the popular assassin classes all got nerfed so, that's probably some of it too.

There was too much bad that came along with the good of NF. Just like when they were planning the origins server, they started making a lot of extra changes that no one asked for and were bad ideas.
They started the NF idea because OF needed some diversity and a reason to go outside emain and break up zergs. More realistic and interactive keeps were asked for too. But no one asked for porting or combat maps. They went overboard with those extra features and they went overboard with the keep designs. That's what ruined RvR for me, and that's why people have wanted an origins server.
