It's actually funny how Devs om Free shards can implement stuff on a shard that is simply awesome where an entire company on Mythic could not even think of it, more less make it go live lol. That says VOLUMES about Mythic. VOLUMES.

Mythic, if you read what we say here, just sell DAoC off to someone who gives a damn about the game AND it's player base.

Mythic doesn't own anything, EA is the entire show now, what was Mythic has been loooong gone for years now.

Probably only 2% of the original "Mythic" staff left there at EA working on other projects.

It's incredibly convenient to omit the horrible implementation of many other free shard mechanics, such as: six second melee interrupts, theurg pets that change targets based on aggro, warlord pet scare that insta kills pets, admins and their friends using procs like scalars on their armor as a permanent passive effect, and the list goes on.

Zyzyg: What anytime snare are you talking about?...Your anytime style should be Polar Rift. Clearly you don't play a Shadowblade.

Yeah, but that's not the point. Corruption and stupid changes aside, the point is that amateur coders were able to make the desired changes in their spare time, for free, and somehow a company, with resources of any kind, can't make the same changes.

There is no point in making a few successful changes while totally breaking many basic game mechanics. It becomes a very different game at that point. Watch Napkins' video from an 8v8 event on said independently run server and you will see the vast difference.

Again, points are being missed here. No one wants to take any given freeshard and make that into live DAoC that we have to pay for. Freshards are buggy and bad. The point is that if shard coders have the resources to make desired changes to the game (along with stupid changes, but that's not what we're talking about) then why can't Mythic/EA/Bioware/Whoever the hell is in charge now make the same desired changes?

The problem is not and never has been the ability of the dev team to make changes, the problem is there has been a lack of direction on which changes should be made. Just because some players like an idea, does not mean it's a good idea to implement. Mythic's problem has been there was no real vision for what the game SHOULD be past release.

If anything, Mythic has listened to the player base TOO much, and implemented garbage that players wanted, but were not well thought out, tested and implemented.
