That doesn't fix the issue of how difficult or time consuming it is to get certain items, though. How do we feel about just letting everything (meaning including ML10 loot and other valuable jewelry) be bought with BP or other currencies? Maybe put a RR requirement on being able to purchase the best stuff or something?

This won't actually help the NEW GUYS we've been talking about. Setting things up so that the old-timers can get neat stuff easier doesn't actually help noobs compete....

money is easy in this game, so that isn't it.

1. farm TOA bonus thid items (sphene/red spinel rings on hib)
2. sell them for ludicrous amounts on the CM
3. profit

They wouldn't be able to compete solo, but I was thinking they could at least zerg surf or run in some groups in the free gear mentioned earlier until they've got some more toys. The intent wasn't really for it to be another expensive grin, but to give people a way to get geared through RvR (since that's presumably why new people would ever give the game a try), although I figured that we still wanted new players to have to work towards this stuff or else we'd just offer it for free.

This should also take care of the issue of people feeling like they need to roll farming characters before they can play what they want in the frontiers.

Just throwing out ideas. I think offering everything through BP is a start, though.

Yes, because new players know exactly what to farm to make money.~

Thats what this topic is about :]P.
First at all we need some kind of guide for new players when they hit 50 so they would to know what they need to do :]P

I agree that crafting should be improved to be more than a filler for the last 2-3 armor slots. However, 20p is not hard to make if that's all it took to finish a template.

I would NOT want to be a new player to this game, however, with some previous MMO knowledge and a helpful guild that knows the game the learning curve isn't near as bad.

I always LOL when people that have played for years are clueless to some of the mechanics, etc. of the game.

I agree with your statement. Previous MMO knowledge and a helpful guild would go a long way in learning the game. Let's face it, I can't see someone who has never played an mmo even attempting this game. Imo it all comes back to guilds... Whenever I'm in cammy I see at least 10 different guilds. Do a herald check on any one of these random guilds and you see 1-10 active players. It would be incredible if all these fragmented guilds could ban together and make the community what it once was. I'm not saying everyone unite under one guild name, but having 20 or so knowledgeable, and active guilds would be great!

hardest thing for new players? that would be the old players.

roll a class because it sounds cool, get told its garbage and youll never get a group

reroll and finnally get 50, get told you need a temp or youll never geta group

(if) you finnally get a temp, get told you need MLs n CLs

your finnally ready to pvp but! you have no name for yourself so you get shunned for the most part

general elietst attitude from the people worth pugging with forces you to join randoms that get steamrolled than your morale goes down.

so you start to zerg, but vocal people call you a noob for zerging that only bads zerg! so you say to yourself well shit whats left? ill solo!

so you solo, just to get zerged down by trios and small mans that were just calling you noobs because hey its not zerging if were not a fg!

so you head to lab where there is no zerg but people will generally group with anyone from what i remember. but then people tell you lolab rat your terrible!

so you quit the game because you cant have fun~

but the oppisite is also true~

join a guild with friendly people, yes they still excist~ and you will get alot of help as long as you show your not some immature dickcheese and are willing to accept that some people in this game have control issues with their guilds

run in a terrible set up group with 3 ments a ranger uhhh a level 34 champ that your bud rerolled. you still get steamrolled but hey at least your having fun.

because at the end of the day, we sometimes forget its a game and were supposed to be having fun....

but i do agree if crafting was the best option or at least comparable to most top end items, it would help greatly in shortening the curve for new/returning players.

in UO crafted gear wasnt the best option, there were uber loots availalbe but because there was full loot, everyone ran in crafted gear. which for the most part were handouts from the smith that was training, so if your guild had a GM smith, you had an edge in the fights~ but smiths need alot of materials so people had to go out and protect the miner. but mineres usually were busy mining so were prone to attacks, so you needed guards but than you needed mounts and crap to carry your materials so you needed tamers ect ect ect IT HAD COMMUNITY AND THERE WAS A REASON TO BE IN A GUILD!

i myself am in a guild bymyself on mid and hib because i dont like my the 8man guild name that people choose. only thing i miss out on is 5% rp bonus but i dont care, with the way rps are, on a good night i get like 75k in 2 hours,

i miss old rps....

tldr: just have fun and play

You were making really good points up to and after this one. The idea that there are "people worth pugging with" implies that there are people who aren't.

So either the noob is an elitist [no] or the reality that it's not in anyone's best interests to group sometimes.

I have a reason = DAoC is not Free 2 Play

Most all games are these days, and future ones are going to be.

quite a few good points

Does it really matter if people say you're a noob or a bad? Does e-cred really mean that much? If you enjoy zerging, do it imo and F the rest. If you want to be a labrat F the haters. Nearly all your points after you hit 50 are based on someone else telling you how you should or shouldn't play. Frankly, they're just trolling. if you want them to stop, agree with them. They're looking for a reaction and if they don't get it they'll find someone else.

I get called bad all the time. It's even more true then not, but just telling them "yeah, and?" usually makes them leave me in peace. I play for fun, do what I find fun regardless of what others might think of what I find fun. The people who dont like it can eat a nut.
