I am surprised experienced players think this game is hard. DAoC is supposed to be hard. It is what sets it off from every other cookie cutter game out there. DAoC is by far the deepest, richest, in-depth game I have ever played or heard of. I very much like that aspect of it.
Once the developers change the game and make it easy-mode, which they will, it may get a small, short-lived rise in revenue for the owners. However those who have played it for a long time will be gone, and of course they will be followed by the newbies.
The danger for the game is not the difficulty, or templating or anything like that.
Sure it is hard. But once you do make it you have every right to be proud, simply because it is hard and you did it. Templating a toon is the final and most satisfying part of the game! I dread the day every noob will be "given" a perfect, or near perfect set of gear. Not because of the competition, not at all but because the game will lose tremendously. Take out the difficulty of templating and you run a real risk, and in my opinion, a probability of ruining the best fantasy game ever made.
The real danger to the game is short-sited developers nerfing everything and putting DAoC on easy mode. Oh well, it seems nerfing is the short term way to go, for long term loss.
