that is complete BS... RL has nothing to do with the game world... the game is about realm vs realm.... so greedy individualism is against the entire concept of realm versus realm...

in the real world, greedy individualism is how you succeed.

And comments like these illustrate how freaking ignorant you are about the state of both the game world, and the real one.

You can't wrap your head around the fact that someone can make a profit - a HUGE profit - and both buyer and seller can walk away happy.

You can't wrap your head around the fact that someone can make a profit and not be greedy.

You can't wrap your head around the fact that I've probably given away more in time-saved for people than you've ever come close to. I've given away sets - SETS - including weapons of ML10 gear to people. Put a price tag on that. Not in money, but in time. Never mind the fact that I did this when these items were ALL selling for 120-150p each.

You can't wrap your head around the fact that I know what realm pride really means. It means spending MY frickin time, farming, buying/selling, then sharing my success - my time - with my guild mates, and even people on these boards whom I have no in game friendship with. Greedy my ass.

You can't wrap your head around it because you refuse to see certain realities. Just like Semi4 explained, you only see the dream world (game or not), through the lens of how something makes you feel.

So feel free to keep thinking realm pride is running around naked (because you would have given the shirt off your back, right?), when in reality, because you couldn't buy/farm/keep your good gear you're hurting your realm because your healer has to spend 50% of his power bar trying to keep your ass up.

Realm pride indeed.

Capitalism, either in-game or irl just eludes some people.

i understand capitalism, and profiteering just fine...

i make huge amounts of isk in EvE... because thats what EvE is about...

but thats not what camelot is supose to be about...

wich is what people dont seem to be understanding...

there is literaly NO NEED AT ALL to have massive amounts of plat in camelot.. there is nothing via npc venders that require huge amounts of plat in daoc...

so the only need for massice amounts of plat in camelot is to be greedy... horde wealth you dont need...

or to buy rediculously over priced items from players... wich if no-one overpriced items in the first place... then that wouldnt be an issue...

so again... high prices and amassing huge amounts of plat in DAoC is completely pointless and against everything that the game is about.

Actually, hording plat would be good for DAoC in a lot of ways. This would curb inflation as they money is not spent. If the hoarder gave it all away to people that would spend it prices would go up.

Also, who said that DAoC is a game that should be void of any economics? Who said EvE is not a pvp, or pve game, but an online economics competition? How is holding currency in any game different than another? Correct me if i'm wrong (I'm not), but the sole purpose of a currency is to facilitate trade. As in RL, very few people use cash for it's physical properties: rolling a doob, starting a fire, paper mache, etc. (exception: see post WW1 Germany, some African countries with hyperinflation).

The driving force of capitalism is greed; this is not a bad thing, it allows for an adaptive economy, people pretending it's altruism that drives their want of money (real or pretend) are just delusional.
