I love the idea of Cathan Valley as a pre RR5 battle ground for level 50s. It seems like it would be good for NF if players could actually get up to RR5 before entering so they are not just RP fodder. These days a pre RR5 guy trying to RvR is like a level 40 something person trying to RvR in the earlier days, it's hard to really do anything outside of a zerg.

I can also see why some people fear the idea. I suspect I would probably never level Cathal Valley (with some characters anyway) if Mythic did this. I think the realm rank system is broken and I would love playing a level 50 character in a BG that minimized it.

Labby is terrible for new players. It's zergier and more ruthless than New Frontiers and has plenty of high RRs.

Also I think it's important to clarify that the OP isnt suggesting that players under RR5 be forced to go to CV. He's just saying they be allowed to.

Exactly it would be an option like it is with every other level anyone can go to NF from 1-50 I'm just saying it should be made into an option for those under rr5 to be able to play in a more balanced playing field rather than having to fight a rr10 as a rr3 as far as MLs and CLs go it should be 10 and 10 considering both are fairly easy to get CLs more so in RvR which would also help lower realm ranks due to more even fights.

Just add XP quests to Leirvik and Cathal, that'd improve things, no need to steal the pop from NF, Lab is enough.

And what happens to the level 45-49 players? If you think sub-rr5 has a hard time in NF, imagine being five levels below your enemy

I've been advocating level 45-50 (capped at 4L9, ML5, no champion levels) for YEARS.

However, so many new ridonkulously strong items coupled with the new XP quests have changed my tune. I agree that the level requirement should stay as-is, but throw in a quest series. This way you get bodies in there. Then we don't have to deal with the updated ml10/dragon/slayer/SI items that puts an even larger gap between the haves and have-nots.

I have a couple of perma-CV toons that I whip out for the Spring/Xmas quests. Trust me, a good ol' fashioned Artifact template is more than enough to farm the XP hounds

On a side note - change Legendary Weapon procs to level 49!

That's like saying, "Life was a bad idea."

And my advice would be the same either way:

"...then stop playing"

NF may have been a bad idea, but just like life, you make the best of it, yes?
