As the topic states.

Especially considering 3 recent nerfs to an already underperforming class.
- Block cap reduction
- dual wield penetration
- slam nerf

Thanes don't get: banelord, chants, heals, stoicism, pvp oriented self buffs, magic resists, charge or an op rr5.

Compare thane to reaver, No comparison. Reavers get banelord, lifetap procs, twf, and an op rr5
Compare thane to heretic. No comparison. Heretics get banelord, heals, insane AF, pvp oriented self buffs, amazing DPS, and an op rr5
Compare thane to champion. No comparison. Champs get banelord, charge, debuffs like whoa, a free end redux chant, and an op rr5
Compare thane to valewalker. No comparison. Valewalers get banelord, insane ABS, pvp oriented self buffs, baseline dd's (lifetap), and aquity buff

Some of these classes perform well despite the shield, evade, block cap and slam nerfs. They have inherent strngths/skills to fall back on. Thanes do not.

Where is the love?

Thanes have always suffered from being underpowered and underloved by the developers - and most of the players. Its a great class for PvE, it seems the developers have just decided its never going to be a great class for PvP (although I have seen some very effective players play a Thane with great success in the past). Its like playing a Cave Shaman - you are always the last kid picked to join the team, or they just ignore you entirely

As good as other mid classes are, it's really hard to work up sympathy for thanes.

I think you're looking at other hybrid classes and saying that the Thane is weak compared to them, I really don't think so. Occasionally you'll find some exceptional players or high realm rank players on hybrid classes who shine, but for the most part they aren't really desired so much in groups.

I don't see any hybrids you've listed as having a great time. I wouldn't recommending rolling a new one for RvR when it's easier for light tanks and casters.

Mythic could do with looking at all hybrids carefully to see if they're bringing in enough value to groups.

Thanes rock. 1700 range for a hybrid is pretty damn impressive.

The 1700 range is because it is so hard to template +range and still be viable. You can make a + range oriented template but you may as well reroll Runie cuz 2bolts at 1800 range+ will out DPS any thane. And your staff will hit harder than the thane's weapon considering that template.

thane is a sub par-DPS'r compared to most hybrids and in today's game hybrids are on a lower playing field than sneaks, casters or tanks. So ya they need some love.

More DPS or some toys to make them more viable.

Meh, thane casting dmg can be quite impressive and the 1700 range is BEFORE any +range bonuses.
I'm not saying thanes don't need any help, but they are certainly not as awful as some people make them out to be.

They require a certain kind of player and group to shine though.

Btw, here's my thane killing a rr10 shaman with 2425 HP, 33% energy resist + AoM 3 (guess that's 5 today? 10%...) in what, 4 seconds?
That's without even using rr5 (or WoC) and one less nuke could have been enough too.
