The blocking nerf ruined so many classes and completely removed all strategy from melee combat.

Heavy Tanks
-----------
Your one-hand DPS is low and your shield isn't blocking anything so everyone just mindlessly walks around spamming their level 34 two-hand weapon style since using sword and board is completely pointless the overwhelming majority of the time. No positional attacks worth using, no maneuvering yourself to try and keep your shield in front of your opponent, you just stand there and spam 1 style over and over like an idiot. How the hell is this supposed to be fun? Blocking needs to be restored to normal and heavy tanks need positional and reactive/chain attacks worth using instead of spamming the 34 style.


Paladin
---------
In original DAoC, Paladins were given crap damage and weapon skill (healer base?) and the tradeoff was supposed to be high defense plus in-combat healing. Their defense is now garbage due to block nerf and heal chants are also a joke due to mythic giving skalds & minstrels a better heal chant in not only amount healed but it also works out of combat unlike the paladin. Low weaponskill, nerfed defense, and better heal chant given to skalds and minstrels make this class not fun to play.


Warden
--------
Same boat as the paladin. Nobody enjoyed playing this class even when they could block people but now they're complete trash. Why would anyone want to play a melee class with god awful melee damage that's based around defense but doesn't actually block anything but has some mediocre backup heals? Answer: They don't.


Scouts
------
They weren't overpowered because they could block, they were overpowered because they could slam then point blank shot for free kills. Now both alb stealthers are inferior to hib and mid. This class needed the slam nerf but needs blocking restored.


Thane
-------
Most people would probably say thanes were inferior to valewalkers pre-block nerf. This is another class that did not need some enormous nerf to defense. If you want to nerf valks and reavers, go and nerf those actual classes instead of doing blanket nerfs to every single class that uses a shield. This is ridiculous.


I actually wouldn't mind if ONLY VISIBLE LIGHT TANKS received the 25% bonus to shield penetration but giving it to stealthers basically ruined DAoC since there's a stealther adding onto every fight making shield useless 24 hours a day.

In other words, they should have let the old DW alone. Shield would still be uncapped, Light-tanks would have remained at the top of the DW food chain, assassin's would not have needed the add-ons they've received, and slam would be a non-issue.

Useless post just like everyone else on this board with 20,000 posts. They should just auto-ban you when you go over 1000.

Trust me, you'll prefer my truncated posts. I tend to get long-winded.
Wardens didn't even have shield for most of the game's history, and they still got played. Sorry, but all I see is someone who got his ez mode taken away.

You do realize, that against everything that doesn't DW, shield works the same as before? Hmm, lets see...2 light tanks in each realm, 2 assassins...there are three realms, that makes you're a big fat loser. Ha! j/k. But I hope that gives you a little perspective.

Shield was overpowered for most classes for a few years now. The DW penalty needed to be re-instated. The slam nerf was meh, and I think most people agree it didn't need to be nerfed. After 9 years, most people learned to deal with it. But why complain now? Do you just want to be heard?

/yawn...Let me get comfortable and you can tell us all about it...

You have 2 options: quit, or deal with it, one way or another.

Ummm

Heavy tanks in rvr just use shield for slam pre nerf anyway or to stack health regen.

Now they just slam still get it for 9 sec's and spam the 34 style or if they want to switch it up do positionals for about 7 sec's then spam lvl 34 styles.

Scouts needed the nerf. I played a scout and with 400+ dex mob 3 and 42 shield I just LOL'd at most melee class's waiting on the slam timer before slam pb pb pb again.

The shield nerf was needed the only class's I feel have suffered most for this are thanes.

But sure they are just aoe hammer spamming mezz breakers anyway right?

i agree with taking 9 sec stun away from non-hvy tanks... but assassins did not need the help of better defense penetration, they are OP as is. The only thing that needs fixed is cast speed/dmg b/c casters have gone rampant in this gaame

Ok, im pretty sure you played a shield character that got nerfed so you are posting here.

Me who didnt play a shield toon is glad that they got nerfed, since it was impossible to kill reavers + wardens and some heavytanks...

Now you can actually hit them ! yay ! still, if you are good , and not get jumped by 3-4 people, shud be able to manage to fight with all the other toys that shieldies have.

Stealhters were very weak against shields, i mean, reavers and wardens were just pain ...


Overall, i think current settings are very good, shield still does its job !

No, it doesn't. All it takes is some worthless stealther adding onto the fight and now your shield becomes completely worthless. And guess what? That happens almost every single fight. If that change is to remain in game, it doesn't need to benefit stealthers.
