Was going to make a new thread but this one should do.

I used to play Thidranki (and still have several 24lvl toons), but as of late I feel more inclined to play Molvik (actually haven't played Thidranki since my return 1 year ago). I play in Molvik because I like the balance of it all and it suits me, I also play in Leirvik from time to time. I of course have several 50’s but I’m still learning about NF, names of places, the abbreviations used by players etc.., Believe it or not a new player in the NF will not know what ecb means, as i did not. Just takes time and depending how active you are in NF

Now with the new quest in the BGs, the BGs have gotten more populated, which to be honest only increases PVP/RVR if your going after the newbies in the questing areas. For the most part in the various BGs I’ve noticed that there is a very slight increase in PVP/RVR, but not really enough to interest players to hang out, they want to reach NF or at least reach 50lvl so they can do other things. Players that actively play in the BGs choose to do so as an alternative to NF or are taking a break from NF.

Back when all the BGs were pretty well populated and PVP/RVR thrived, players had a really good chance to arrive in NF at RR5. This is no longer the case. Even with the attempt by some to increase activity in Cathal Valley, many players just want to reach 50lvl while in that BG or simply avoid it altogether because of being zerged down while trying to complete a quest. Thus many players are simply passing through the BGs to reach level 50 and usually arrive in the NF with little or no realm rank under their belt. With little to no RR it’s a bit difficult to be competitive or maybe even get into a group to help in earning some realm points

My suggestion is meant from the point of view of getting more/new players ready for battle in NF (or remain longer in a BG). This of course has pros and cons to it…

At level 20 a player is award RR1 and 1 realm point to spend on a realm ability. Would awarding a higher realm rank to a player as they continued to level be feasible? So that when they reached 50lvl they would be at realm rank 5L0, this would also benefit and increase PVE.

So something like…
@20lvl you are awarded RR 1L1, this is Thidranki Level 20-24 and caps at RR 1L4.
@25lvl you are awarded RR 1L5, this is Braemar Level 25-29 and caps at RR 1L9
@30lvl you are awarded RR 2L0, this is Wilton Level 30-34 and caps at RR 2L4
@35lvl you are awarded RR 2L5, this is Molvik Level 35-39 and caps at RR 2L9
@40lvl you are awarded RR 3L0, this is Leirvik Level 40-44 and caps at RR 3L9
@45lvl you are awarded RR 4L0, this is Cathal Valley Level 45-49 and caps at RR 4L9

Now to receive the RR award, it could be quest related or simply require one to port into a BG, which a player does anyway if they are going through the New User Journey. Though I would add that if a player never visits a BG as they level, then they wouldn’t be awarded the higher RR until they reach NF, at which point they would be awarded RR 5L0.

So say you skip porting into Braemar and Wilton, you would have to continue leveling with just RR 1L1, you wouldn’t be awarded a higher RR simply because you are a higher character level. But later you port into Molvik, at that point you are awarded RR 2L5. Thus you are award a RR when you port into one of the various BGs.

In my opinion reaching RR 3L0 in Molvik is fairly easy and while at that rank a player can manage competing in NF, being awarded RR 5L0 and their class specific ability should help all around, from getting into groups and not being completely owned and discourage when up against a higher RR enemy. I dare say that even higher RR/skilled players wouldn’t mind a bit more challenging fight from newcomers.

Would this take away from the BGs? Possibly encourage players to be more active in a particular BG or even remain awhile longer than they would otherwise? Surely this should encourage players to want to get to 50lvl/NF or promote more PVE?

As previously mentioned: OF.
Also, a buff system like the classic servers had (from what I can recall) where you had to be within XXX units to receive the buff benefits; however, this would kill a lot of subscribed bot accounts so it'll never happen. From a gaming standpoint it would help, but definitely not a financial one.

rps are simple enough to gain as it is now.

no need to furthur dilute RR.

prehaps leaving the zerg and gaining mroe that 12 rps per kill will show you how dumb it is to gain RR in todays daoc.

sure i die like 20 times and maybe only get as many solo kills, but at 2-5k per kill? not bad i would think. and im a casual average player, the good players hit rr10 in a month for a reason...

The problem with many gaming companies these days and Mythic/Bioware/EA are no exception is that they concentrate too much on encouraging players into certain behaviours with tangible rewards rather than working on the "fun" factor.

The problem is if it's not fun, it doesn't matter how much loot, points, etc you give out, people will stop doing it.
