Looks too much like wow to me... I still can't believe that ppl in daoc are willing to cough up a second account fee for bots in a game that's ten yrs old. I would think this would be THE most important complaint from the game community instead of balance crap

^^^ This.
Even more of a pain in the @$$ and the reason I am not still playing is the resources required to run to accounts simultaneously. Most DAoC players are used to it and will shout down any complaints concerning it, but having to run 2 computers next to each other or run a powerful system and alt/tab all the time was so freaking ANNOYING I just couldn't take it anymore. Shouldn't have to have the office look like NORAD just to run a game, it's ridiculous and not worth it anymore.
Yeah yeah I don't play anymore so don't post etc... I only checked the boards today out of curiosity because I received an email that I'm about to lose gm status through auto-promote. Not that it will matter since I don't think anyone else in the guild still plays anymore anyway.
It's a shame they just never nutted up and fixed the buffbot issue /shrug.

^ They did that a couple of patches ago. There are both NPCs and potions that'll get ya very close to buffbot buffs, and you can make up for the tiny difference that is left with skill, RR, class-choice, etc. very easily.
I have played numerous classes on just these buffs, even at low RRs, and did just as well as with a fully buffed toon. In some cases you may have to spend a couple more RPs on like AugDEX to reach that breaking point on your spells, but that's about the only case in the game where a few stat points make any sort of significant difference.
Not to mention there are several classes that have always had their own buffs, and even those with just 1 or two spec buffs get even closer to full bot-buffs with just pots/npc buffs. (I mean for christs sake, we now have AF & haste buffs on NPCs, and most powerful timed group-buffs have had a range slapped on them so they can no longer be used as a secondary, or tertiary buffbot.)
Mythic has done a lot in that department, and quite frankly there is nothing left to cry about concerning buffbots in DAoC. You no longer need them for PvE leveling, and certainly not for PvP either.

Would really like to join a guild with people from daoc. Especially for the 3way RVR again. If anyone has plans for a guild let me know please.
same I'll be on the look out for a WvWvW focused GW2 guild of former DAoCers as well as the release date draws near, should know more in March. Seems like people who have not experienced Dark Ages RvR have a really twisted idea of how open world PvP should work in that setting. Worried about things getting tainted by the WoW perspective. Definitely looking forward to leveling in WvW from day 1.
I played the PvE demos at PAX enough to know what to expect and while PvE will be enjoyable enough on its own with none of those grindy things I dislike from other games, I plan to spend most of my time in WvW roaming small man groups in old school DAoC style but I also want to recapture some of that Realm Pride feeling so going to need a guild and server who remembers what that means.

Yes I want to do the exact same. I plan on playing a thief and doing what i did with my Shadowblade in OF. waiting along the paths and picking off people trying to get to the action spots.
And i dont see how this game looks like wow to anyone. its not a cartoony game. id say it looks like DAOC with today graphics.
If you dont know about Gw2 or are basing it off of hating GW1 please watch this video. this is what got me interested.

hmm... you mean the full buffs from the NPC... lvl 30 ?? i don't get even close to what a buff bot gives me using those NPC buffs... it's a JOKE... MYTHIC likes making it so that you HAVE to have a bot... it's extra income... good luck if we try to convince them otherwise. these other buffs are a bone to the complainers

while i agree that nothing will ever be exactly like DAOC or replace it.
a few reasons why would be no buff bot needed, and i cant handle the old graphics anymore (aion spoiled it for me)
Reason to play GW2
combat.. you have to actually aim and you can dodge enemies attacks (you control dodge)kinda plays like a FPS.
No monthly fee.. instead of two (buff bot)
no healer class. i like this idea more, everyone fights and can help with support abilities if needed. its more about the fighter and his offense/defense rather than just about who is getting more heals.
a PVE system i will actually like... maybe lol
DAOC will always be my favorite game, but GW2 is bring alot of cool stuff with todays graphics and will have the awsome 3way rvr again.
I might try it if it's F2P. But it won't be DAoC, it will a different game.
When's the launch?
People like u are so ignorant. Of course its not daoc. Its better than daoc. Adapt to change

i watched the link...
and its first reason listed for playing it...
is exactly why i will never play it.
its unrealisticaly bright and colorful, the eye strain and headaches it would cause me...
beyond that i dont think i'd be interested anyways.. but the art style and graphics turn me off from the start so theres no point in reading any further past that.
