As long as it was just PvE , just copy/paste healer one and done. PvP bard's need nothing

So as is probably often the case, there is a bit of a conflict of interest between existing Bards and making the class more enjoyable to play for other new players. The class' existing hard-core players obviously don't want to simplify the class, or give up anything, since they're excelling at it with all those tools & group roles. However, this keeps new players from wanting to play the class, or even when they do try to play a Bard, they give up quickly in frustration over all the important utility roles they have to perform, while the rest of the group gets to focus mainly on blowing stuff up with almost no other tangible group-responsibilities of their own.
This sorta situation naturally leads to a decline in the class' popularity over time. Lowering the learning curve of Bards simply requires simplifying the class, and at that point it would also make sense to add some offensive capabilities. 
This is it. We don't want anymore easymode-classes. If you want easymode play some other classes. I am happy for every class a newbie will be uncapable of playing good. Even if this means I ! will not play that specific class very well. It gives a lot of depth into Daoc. If everything is easy, there's no challenge.

either mez dampening or insta amnesia or greaters.

I agree bards could use some PvE solo love, but for the love of god, give my mauler something that makes him groupable!

Just try leveling a Bard on off peak hours, no weekends and see how much fun it is. It truly sucks rocks, try leveling it's Arti's. It's far easier to level a Druid/Healer/Cleric then a Bard.
The Bard is at the bottom of the Pve chain. Once it was the Healer at the bottom, but they got some Pve love and now for Pve they aren't bad at all to level.

quit ur bard and play a friar if this is what you want...
bard is designed for other things besides deathblows and solo kills...
They JUST gave you guys aoe root cmon now
maybe a pve lifetap will do you well although you can level pretty easily doing BG quests in groups now

Well today i started a Pac Healer, i'm spec'd full pac as you would hope your only cc in a grp would be. While solo i'm killing mobs very quickly with unstyled swings (thx to the base line pve proc)and i can mezz and stun with the best of the lowbies. Compared to the 3 Bards i've leveled recently this is cake.
