If more people were willing to organize into doing guild rvr or /as pugs and sort of become familiar and funnel people in (rate controlled) while shielding themselves from ass 's by staying a little bit private I think they'd be happier RvRing overall. Unfortunately Mythic does nothing to promote this and in fact has made so many changes that hinder that kind of thing that it's virtually non-existent anymore.

I would have to disagree. Mythic has done a lot for people who want to crutch superior numbers in terms of changing or adding game mechanics to help people from dying in mass numbers. And it's not like the large public BGs don't organize through in-game means (/bg, /as, /reg, etc) or separate programs, voip in particular. Perhaps Mythic could do more on the interface side, maybe with easier ways to find public BGs and such. But you can't say they don't do a lot to promote dumbing down the game to help zergers. It's just that most zergers and players in general want to both treat DAoC casually (claiming they don't care to learn about mechanics) and competitively (raging when they wipe/die).

I'm not sure where the disagreement is because I'm actually suggesting the non-public bg is better so... I don't care if the game supports public BG's, I think they are bad. And I agree that something like /region or /advice or /lfg chat dumbs the game down and think it sucks. I don't like it. And I think other games like Failhammer and Rift and such show that public quests and other public stuff is in general the wrong way to go in MMOs. Speaking in terms of /lfg having to talk to people, that little extra step of personally typing in someone's name actually went a long long way to making contacts and playing. Now it's like a post on Craigslist. You have no idea what you are gonna get and it's usually worse. You got people who use /region to bemoan every little thing that someone else didn't do for them. (Burgerkeeng) Then there's the attention whoring and trolling etc. It's obnoxious and toxic to the game climate if you ask me.

And I'm not necessarily talking about dumbed down play or at all/how it sounds like you are using the term "casually". Personally I think everyone should try to learn. Everyone was noob at one point it's just a question of where they are now. To me I think casual is more an indicator of what you are willing to tolerate/accept to play with in broad terms(read not just skill but time and personality etc). I just simply can't imagine that someone would refuse to learn about proper mechanics given the right conditions. (But given that it's a game that so there should be some assumption of having fun along the way I don't think going from fighting pve/BG/zergy noobs to 8 man elite overnight is the condition for a successful growth either.)

IMO one of the great failures of this game in fact is that zerging is considered the mindless way(because the game play devolved to exhibit that) and that people get stuck in that mindlessness. But it doesn't have to be that just because you have 3fg that you are not playing at least somewhat competitively it just changes what you can say your competition is. So if someone on hib runs 3 groups and spends most of their time fighting rescu/billings or catsfriend/xyorman (which is what's out at hib primetime) they are most certainly not the ones with superior numbers. So rather than fault them you should give them credit for looking for a fight against more numbers and maybe trying to innovate ways to do it beyond the old standard bomb group/situations.

I was more or less talking about when albs run 4FG at 3 am in the fking morning, when there isn't shit for mids on to fight back.

Yet you do not mention that the Albs have nothing to fight back against the 130+ person Annamariede zerg during European primetime. Or did you want one realm to have a competitive zerg on at all hours of the day?

Sorry I don't rvr during Euro prime time.. so I can't mention who runs what zergs during that time. I can only speak for what time of day I play.

Yes TSK does run an open BG sometimes, but maybe 2 out of 8 mids will join that BG.. the rest rather 8man, smallman, or solo. It is no surprise to anyone that has played mid, that a good number of people won't join a BG cuz they dont wanna be called zerging trash n what not. They are scared of the VN hate lol, or something like that.

It's public every time they have a BG. And even if that ratio was correct/accurate, it's still enough to stand up against the Alb public BGs. The fact that one realm has enough people to require another to use late night zergs uncontested to get anything done further demonstrates this. This complaint about being outnumbered is even more funny coming from someone that has basically run 8+, never hesitated on jams, never pulled off, died to non-full #ywain pugs, jammed on island (and still lost), etc. What a joke.
