It's not actually the Eula i meant to refer too, it's the new CoC. The jist of the change says "No longer will we restore deleted characters unless it's a bug".

Okay, but again, this rule hasn't changed in the last ten years.

Here it is quoted from the Shrouded Isles version (2002) of the Rules of Conduct. The exact same language is in the ROC today:

Quote:

2002 Rules of ConductCharacter Restoration Policy

============================

Because of the difficulty in deleting any character within Dark Age of Camelot (you have to actually type in the word "es" after clicking the delete key), we will not restore any character that was deleted from the client. As always, if a problem occurs within the game that is due to a bug, we will investigate fully and take appropriate action, including restoration if possible.

For the sake of completeness I just compared the original Rules of Conduct (ROC) to the current version.

First, there has never been a new ROC. The original was published on Sept. 5, 2001. Gradually, until 2007, Mythic made changes in the original ROC. But they never replaced it with a new document.

Second, the last change to the ROC was made on Dec. 13, 2007, more than four years ago.

Third, during the first six years, the ROC changed drastically, mainly from the addition of new sections. The current ROC is 50 percent longer than the original.

One of the annoying things about the ROC is that its sections aren't numbered, so each time I refer to a rule, I'll have to write out the whole section title.

Here are the main changes:

1. In the section called Rules of Conduct, current item 4, they added a rule saying that you can get disciplined if you don't obey a CSR's instruction.

2. In Prohibited Conduct, current item 13, they added a new rule about "scripting or macroing tools, hardware or software."

3. In Prohibited Conduct, current item 14, they changed "game hacking software or tools" to "game hacking/altering/cheating software or tools."

4. In Prohibited Conduct, current item 18, they added a new rule about cross-team spying.

5. In Prohibited Conduct, current item 19, they added a new rule about roleplaying.

6. In Character and Guild Naming Policy, three rules were added and one was changed. The change is interesting because it's one of the few instances where a rule was made less strict. In the original, you could not use a name that contained a phrase or sentence. In the current ROC, you can use a phrase or sentence as long as it's not "inappropriate."

7. In Naming Policy Enforcement, current items 1 and 2, they changed the procedure to be followed when they force you to change a name.

8. They added a new section called Changing Your Guild Emblem.

9. They added a new section called Honor In Combat.

10. They added a new section called PvP Server Addendum.

11. They added a new section called Honor In Combat For PvP Servers.

12. They added a new section called Harassment Policy For PvP Servers.

13. In Harassment Policy, they removed "ou will be informed of the results of the investigation."

14. In Harrassment Policy, they added, "Valid harassment issues are always handled at a server lead level or higher."

15. Online Auctioning Policy changed quite a bit. In the original ROC, Mythic stated that they would not be involved in any way when a player sells an account for real money. In the current ROC, such sales are regulated by section 1E of the EUALA and recognized by Mythic under defined circumstances.

16. In Account Security Policy, they added a paragraph about suspending an account if it has been compromised.

17. They added a section called Character Restoration Policy. It says they won't try to restore deleted characters unless the deletion was caused by a bug.

18. In Item Reimbursement Policy, they added a sentence that says only team leads and above can reimburse items.

19. They added a section called Quest Intervention Policy which explains (among other things) that in most cases CSRs won't provide quest items to players.

20. They added a section called Guild Maintenance Policy which explains how toons get autopromoted to GM when a guild has no active GM.

21. In What To Expect From Customer Support, current item 2, they added the availability of email support.

22. In What To Expect From Customer Support, current item 3, they added that they do not answer "How do I" questions.

23. In Disciplinary Policy, current item 3, they extended the length of short suspensions and specified that only team leads and higher may impose them.

24. In Disciplinary Policy, current item 5, they added that only the supervisor of game support or customer service directory may terminate an account.

25. In Disciplinary Policy they added a reference to the "Detailed List of Policy Violations and Disciplinary Actions" which is (or used to be, anyway) on DAOC's official website.
