maybe throw in baseline nuke you have to combine with lifetap if you can free cast. or maybe powerless too.


can we agree warlocks take at least 8 buttons then?

I remember they did patch some things on bolts when they buffed fire wizzies. I recall the casting speed being lowered from 4.0s to 2.0, a change that made the bolts miss less (when target was considered in melee bolts missed most of the time). Maybe something more, but my memory fails me.

They probably did something in regards to damage as i remember bolts to be very dangerous for mages in the old days, but quasi-useless versus anything with studded/heavy armor. While heavier armor does help, it doesn't seem to help as much as it did back then.

bolts nearly completely bypass resistances... so it's funny to see people crying "but i had xy% resistances + buff + what ever". you will still deal about 95% of the damage even on a 100% resistance target... bolt damage is reduced by af, absorb and shields. also building a good template with +400 hitpoints is a key.

they lowered the cast time, increased the chance to hit for bolts. they also add a mechanic that you get a lower chance to hit a target if that target is currently attacked within melee (25% less for every attacker i think)

They removed that, not added.

i can't find the patch notes for that in my archive but you should been hit less when being in combat (patch notes 1.52 for example)

EDIT: found it... 1.84 note this went live (20% less to hit chance for every attacker within melee range). and within 1.89 they say that they "greatly reduced" the miss rate of bolts, but not how exactly.

I vaguely remember a change to bolts occurred when a similar archer ability was buffed for some reason.

I play a void eld and I think it's funny that people still underestimate how awesome this spec is.
