What happened to bolts? |

I'm pretty convinced something drastic has changed with bolts over the past 7 years (when I last played). I resubbed and checked out my old Theurgist (with capped resists and hits) and got almost one shotted by a void eld before even getting out from the front of my keep.
Ok, a fluke, so I decided I'd just play hib since it's the only one I never played a lot at 50. I level up a mentalist, get a template, and head out. I'm doing okay but I run into a wizard who bolts me for 1,000 then 800. This was with capped heat resists AND the 10% buff from champion abilities AND my shields/AF/BT were up. So, basically, a wizard frontloaded 1,800 damage on me, an amount of damage that doesn't seem possible for me to mitigate even if I were in a group with red heat resists and even if I added croc ring to my template.
Did bolts get changed to essentially ignore every factor whatsoever? I'm honestly curious. I can handle the fact that anyone with bolts gets a guaranteed kill whenever their bolts refresh but it would be nice to know what happened.

wizards got a lot of love a while back and also have the highest delve bolt in the game. So that may be why. They can also debuff their own damage type as well.
Not to mention, may have critted on you too.

The situations you described are very much out of the ordinary. First you say you actually encountered a *void* eld (screenshot or it didn't happen). Next you say you were bolted by a single wizard. This sounds very unlikely as well, there are usually 30+ of them.
The damage numbers are accurate though

Yeah, nothing I like more than stepping out a keep, tower, or over a bridge and getting insta-gibbed by a fire wiz.
It happens, I mean, that's their only game really. Most are free rps if you make them do more than press 2 buttons.

I used to small man with a RC runemaster back in 02-03 and he did that all the time. He almost always 2 bolted casters and if he crit sometimes his first one was all it took. Bolts have always been like this.

Bolts have not always been 2.0 sec cast time though~

template 50 AF and if you see a bolt flying at you, swap to s/s for a chance (however small) to partially block damage

That is one more button then a warlock uses.
