Well despite what Sony says about credit card information getting out or being encrypted I'm still getting a new card number since I could do without any surprises from their lost information down the road. Anyone here as paranoid?

As far as credit cards go, no. If I did use one, it was an old one that I don't have anymore. I don't recall purchasing anything on PSN, though.. As far as personal information goes, yes. Then again, I think any info available is something anyone can obtain on the internet for $5.

Sucks for the PSN users. Sony has had so many major screw ups over the last decade as a company, yet people still support them.

So glad I never put in my card info. I almost bought some old PS1 games a while back too.

This is a huge blunder and if there's a class action I'm totally getting in on it.

If you've never put any credit card information on there, or made any purchases, why do you deserve anything back from them?

Because they did not provide my personal data with proper security which has led to significant inconvenience and even without my credit card info out there, a name, address, phone number, and birth date is enough to start doing things that impact my credit through pre-approved BS.

I've already had to deal with harassing phone calls from a collection agency because someone chose to use my phone number on an application before. Do you know how hard it is to get those a-holes to stop calling you?

Sony's report to Congress, they say they found a file named Anonymous with the contents stating "We are Legion".

I dunno about you guys but I'm about sick of anonymous and their crap. I hope they get caught and fried for this.

I dunno about you guys but I'm more willing to accept Anonymous at their word that they had nothing to do with this than a giant corporation facing class action lawsuits and a P.R. disaster desperate to shift the focus on to anyone instead of their own incompetence. Then again, a one-word filename with 3 words of content? Skip the trial, that's proof enough for me.

i was called by my bank right around the time this news broke b/c someone in nj had used my cc info for a $315 purchase. got my new card and don't plan on using it with psn

I get that Rhylith, but we are WAY too sue happy as a nation. If you come out of this with nothing happening to you at all, then I don't see why you have any right to be a part of a lawsuit against them. Especially if you're asking for monetary compensation.
