You are correct. These boards are not to be taken seriously, and most people forget about them after they close their browser. However, there are indeed some people who can and do become hurt and offended by some of the things that transpire on boards such as these. Some of the attacks reach people on a personal level.


In Sirene's case, I know for a fact that she gets a kick out of what's going here. In fact, she sends me icq's laughing about it. She's an extremely strong-willed woman and considers most of this playful sparring. But how would you know that?


Is it safe to stereotype women and say that most of them have a tendency to be more emotionally sensitive than your typical 20 year-old college guy? So now who's the bad guy here? I would say it's the stalkers who post unprovoked flames and diatribes against women because they think it makes them look "l33t" among their message board buddies.


And what about the insults making fun of Sirene for being a fat 40 year old woman with a penis? What if she really was old and sloppily obese? Weight is a sensitive issue for many females. They sometimes end their own lives because of it. Is it ok for these guys to spout these insults? (for the record, Sirene is an extremely shapely and attractive woman irl, though I shouldn't be saying this because it might raise Ashaman's stalking of her to a new level.)


Now Kirai, speaking as a young woman yourself, how would you feel if punks like Xearoii, Gannon, and Ash started personally attacking YOU out of nowhere? It feels a lot different being on the opposite side of the mob instead of the same side, isn't it? Before you continue attacking someone you don't know and never met before, imagine what it would be like if it happened to you.


But then again, I guess having tons of RP's excuses social deviancy.

KoS <some> - teenage insults just aren't funny. Go ride around on your Schwinn's, and terrorize your neighborhood some more.

Obviously I've been around a while. Heck, Half of HALO is using weapons I made. Also I do a lot of RvR, not just random killings, but fort takings, relic raids etc.

I never said it bothered me. All I said was that you may eventually come across someone who MAY be bothered by it. Because of that, it's better to not even start trash like that in the first place, particularly with people you've never met before.


Not once did Sirene or myself cast the first stone on this thread. But when someone starts something against us, that doesn't mean we're not going to defend ourselves and respond in kind. If they start it, we finish it.


btw, not once did I take a cheap shot at someone's RL attributes. Heh, are you still upset that I called you a pre-pubescent boy? That's not a personal attack, that's just a commentary on the maturity level of your posts. Are you still upset that I called you a nobody? I never referred to you as a nobody irl, just in the context of Lancelot Hibernia. I'm sure you're a very nice, intelligent, and respectable girl irl. But in terms of this game, you're not in any position to make sweeping generalizations of certain indivduals you've never met.
