No offense meant, but Wind also does lack a lot in terms of a spec line. Wind Theurgists are kind of a cross-combination of a wimpy Wizard, mixed with an apprentice sorcerer. They get a weak DD (relative - comnared to Wizard), and a 2nd-rate mez (compared to a Sorcerer). Hell, Sorcs even get DDs that are slightly lacking from a fully-speced Air Theurgist.


So, in terms of utility (and somewhat damage)... sorcerer > theurgist.


In terms of damage, wizard > theurgist.


Yes, Earth and Ice Theurgists have the reeeel sucky end of the stick. But let's not say Wind Theurgists are all hunky-dory, shall we? In short terms, the Theurgist build sucks eggs, and all the specs need serious evaluation.

I just want something done to allow me to at least kill one person before 20 people are running at me. I mean in the days of zergs and such what type of job is my earth theurg supposed to do? I make a great running man but thats about it. GIVE US SOMETHING TO BRING TO THE GROUPS!

weapons work on damage per second ...


16.5 dps means that for every second it takes the weapon to swing, it does 16.5 damage. so on a 4.0 speed weapon ... 16.5dps means per swing the weapon will do 16.5x4.0 = 66 damage. Slowing that down (iirc) doesn't make him do more damage because the damage he does per swing is based on what his non-modified swing rate is ... but his style damage is based on what his modified swing rate would be.


for example ... these numbers are somewhat fake but ... say a 2h savage comes up to you to hit you. He hits for 66 damage with his 4.0 speed weapon. Now he wants to use a style (Havoc) on you. Lets say Havoc gives you 100% more damage (an extra 66). He hits you for 132 damage. Now you hit him with haste debuff for 20% (ease of numbers). That means his modified swing speed is 4.8s. His modified damage would be 4.8x16.5=79.2. So he hits you again ... still for 66 damage (because the debuff does not affect his base damage output). Then he uses his style, havoc again, for 100% more damage. Becuase the styled damage is based on true swingspeed ... he will get 100% more based on the 79.2 damage calculation so he'll hit for 66+79.2=148.2.


those numbers aren't perfect, I'm sure, nor do they reflect any real numbers ... but that is more or less how slowing down someone increases their damage per swing.


by slowing down his swing speed you decrease his overall damage over time ... but increase his chances of really cranking you hard and perhaps oneshotting you or killing you faster than a healer can heal you.

I'm getting tired of arguing with these people who come to this thread thinking they're experts on theurgists telling us how wrong we experienced theurgists are and how uber our class is.
