"A little tact could of resulted in a topic that would elicit or evoke a number of good responses. The poster chose that tone to result in a flame. The flame was warranted."
Lets be honest here. Posters who have used tact have been flamed on this board. Posters who have chosen a kind tone have been flamed on this board. Posters who have had honest questions have been flamed on this board. Sure, some posts do 'deserve' flames but others dont. So don't imply that flames are only targetted against those who 'deserve' it.
Al-Egre_Arn;
Reading comprehension 101. No suggestion was made claiming "flames are only targetted against those who 'deserve' it."
Quote:
" A little tact could of resulted in a topic that would elicit or evoke a number of good responses. "
COULD, past tense of can. Used to indicate probability or possibility under the specified circumstances.
Second: What was made clear was the fact that it was warranted. Not implied. That was the subject of my response to the asinine "question".
Third: The question, which was called into doubt, was confirmed by the very author himself/herself of expecting and soliciting a flame.
Another quote:
" Oh, I expected to get flamed.
I just wanted to point out that its pretty sick that the ACM/UCM plugins are all up and running, even with the multiple versions of Decal causing problems with the other plugins. I guess we should applaud the programmers of the ACM/UCM plugins. Yet, the plugins that would benefit Dereth as a whole are still being worked on or awaiting for a beta release of decal."
His/Her whole point, was to start a flame and try to make a point in doing so. Succeeded in making a flame (Trolling) but not in making his/her point to the "benefit" of dereth.
Now to your point. Tact is often better than mis-guided ramblings such as these. Yes, people have been flamed for much, much less and sometimes were not warranted. Overall, tact has proven the much safer overall. You don't condemn a orchard for a few bad apples.
Arch-Magi loves to play devil's advocate. While often I understand his points. I sometimes wonder if his bias, against most decal devs (or maybe just gouru, drakier and Haz) due to a philisophical difference in his beliefs regarding decal, cloud his personal view in regards to this forum. Irregardless, I still give cudos to Arch-Magi.
