Agree. Points are being made. Some are more opinion than fact though.

<< This thread is NOT about anything else but the website. Everything else as far as I am concerned can be removed. >>

Okay, I'll keep it on topic.Since it is discussing something that is objective (proper web site design), it will tend to be more opinion then fact.It looks like a cookie cutter template type of site. That may not be a bad thing depending on the cookie cutter used, but the site just looks blah.

The only problem I've found with the cookie cutter portal systems is the weaknesses. My clan forums have been hacked a few times, and each time I find another 'well known' flaw in the security and close it.

It was about 8 months back that I finally stopped anyone managing to hack in to the admin control of the site, it was only the forums left. They have managed to hack that three times since, deleted all the posts and group info. It's secure finally after I got the hackers IP (he didn't use a proxy) and he piped up with what weakness he was exploiting.

Portal systems are great, but you MUST keep them bang up to date or your a goner.

If this post doesn't have anything to do with an AC utility, why is it in the ac utilities forum?

Keep it coming.

And yes it's a cookie cutter site. Time will of course allow for updates to graphics, content and more feedback. I appreciate this cookiecutter feedback. I am glad you have identified my flaws.

Managers Decision has come down regarding the admin detection discussion.

I am going to quote directly from -Mithan-:

The Vault Network supports the Turbine Code of Conduct and "Admin Notification" is currently NOT against the Turbine COC. If Turbine changes the COC for AC1, we will support them on that and not allow Admin Notification programs. Hopefully in the future the Decal Developers or Turbine itself will find a way of simply disabling this feature for ALL Plugins and it will no longer really be an issue. However, people should not view this as us allowing UCM Discussion on our boards either. Unattended Combat Macroing continues to be against the rules of Turbine and thus the VNBoards and we will vigorously continue to enforce that, as we have in the past.

I wish to also remind people that personal attacks are against the rules of our forum, so when debating this issue, refrain from calling people names or you may be banned from the forum for doing so.

So - posting the specifics of the plug-in is now OK, and i thank you for waiting while we reached this decision!

My question is...

does -Mithan- know anything about coding and what he's asking in that the Decal Devs or Turbine disable the ability of Admin Detection programs?

Because last I remember, both the Decal Developers AND Turbine have made efforts to stop Admin Detection plugins from working. If Turbine attempting to break Admin Detections isn't enough, then I want to know what is short of changing the CoC to specifically outline Admin Alarm plugins (which I don't forsee them doing for reasons which I cannot discuss here).

Admin Detection will only break so far as until the next person who figures out how Turbine changed the packets or flagged the data. If the AC Client can distinguish a normal player from an Admin/Envoy, then it is trivial for any plugin (decal or not) to extract that SAME data and detect an admin/envoy.

My point is this... Turbine and Decal Developers have both made efforts in the past to stop Admin Alarms, but those were only successful until someone found what changed. To me personally, that screams of Turbine not wanting Admin Alarms. Frelorn asking Paraduck to remove Admin Alarms from LifeTank also screams this point. Is -Mithan- aware of these changes or facts in his information which decided his decision for him? If not, maybe he should again be made aware of this and he should re-evaluate the VNBoards stance on Admin Detection plugins or even discussion about Admin Detection.

Mithan, Kestrina, et al, PLEASE!

Drama is good business for IGN Entertainment, and everyone from the CEO to the lowliest moderator knows it.

Drama makes you money.

When you come on a thread and warn people, when you ban people, it's all part of the fun, you know exactly what you're doing, and IGN is laughing all the way to the bank.

Regular drama queens are your bread and butter, not the masses of boring folks who come here to ask a legitimate game question. The big drama threads draw people to the boards the way a crowd gathers at a car wreck.

That's why you should have a list of the Top Ten Drama Queens, not the highest number of posts. And send them a paycheck every month, because they are sure helping you to get yours.
