Thorfinn's comment has nothing to do with the politics of Darktide... it has to do with the Ethics of Programming.


most "reputable programmers" have an ethical guideline they follow... Thorfinn was pointing out that most "reputable programmers" wouldn't take this as a project due to the nature of your comments and the project in general.


Has nothing to do with white server or red server or DT or "Carebear". It's all about the ethics of it.

I was actually hoping someone would call me out on that. Thank you, now I can enlighten you.


You see, the politics on Darktide have EVERYTHING to do with that. While UCM is generally not accepted on other servers, it is welcomed on DT by the populace. Darktide might as well be a whole different game. What is not acceptable on the other servers and what may appear to be "trashy" to you, may not be to us. Thats how we play and thats how we have played for all these years.


There have been many reputable programmers who have programmed this plugin on Darktide, and if anyone would like to contest that fact, they would lose. You see, once again what may not be ethical to the people of white servers does not mean it is not ethical on Darktide. The original program was made by a guild leader of one of the best guilds on Darktide, and he is someone who everyone would trust.

programming ANYTHING against the CoC (Rules) put in place by Turbine would be unethical... regardless of if it is "accepted" or not.

Guess we're not ethical over there on Darktide. We'll deal with it. Dont know what else to tell you, this program was designed by one of the most trustworthy people on DT and copied by some other big time names who are also good people.

see Rayne... you fail to realize that it's not just "video game ethics".... it's ethics in general.


people try to use the excuse "it's just a video game", but in this video game, there are other people, and your actions DIRECTLY impact these other people... for better or for worse.


With that in mind, each and every player needs to be aware that their actions (either right or wrong, macro or not macro, attended or unattended) affects each and every player on the server and potentially the game.


Ethics extend far beyond it being a "video game". I'd hope all real programmers realize that.

Also, I've got to say: I disagree with the fact that EVERYONE on DT condones and accepts UCMs and "welcomes" them.


Well, that, and it's still against Turbine's CoC and is still enforced last I've checked.
