Not everyone considers that fun. I know some people who use AC mainly to chat.

"why would anyone play a game if it wasnt for personal gain/satisfaction? thats what some call fun and its up to turbine to police THERE game"

People can play for personal gain and satisfaction. The problem comes when people don't realize that exploiting the system and cheating hurts everyone else. It is when you put your own personal gain above the welfare of the game and the other players.

That's partially what all games are about. Leveling, progressing, getting more loot, etc.. that's what most games, especially MMOs, are based upon. The difference is when it crosses the line from being what the game is about, to exploiting and gaining an unfair advantage.

Also... Turbine SHOULD police THEIR game, but I also believe the players should have enough morality to police themselves. Think about a world where we wouldn't NEED police to enforce laws. If people knew right from wrong and acted accordingly. Unfortunately that is not the case, and as such, Turbine is short staffed to handle the policing problem themselves. That's when people like Paraduck and C'Relic, and the Decal Developers step in to help enforce the laws clearly written by Turbine. It is up to everyone as upstanding citizens to know the difference between right and wrong and act upon it. If you personally don't see a problem with UCM, then that would be part of the problem.

"Paraduck and C'Relic made these changes to help curb a significant problem of UCMs in Asheron's Call. It might be a bit late, but they are still making an effort. I don't care of LifeTank was originally designed specifically to be UCM. It is no longer in the hands of those players. Once the code leaves their hands, the control of that goes with it."

2002 called they want their anti UCM argument back.

it is now 2007 and UCM is hardly a problem, you want a problem? piss off the UCM community, to the point where they quit this game. then you have your self a problem much like the problem the AC2 crowd got in to..

anyone that wants to hunt for xp can these days the server pop is so low and the high yielding xp dungeons are so many, that no one should have a problem hunting. a UCM / ACM (its all the same too me) hardly will degrade your playing experience these days.

i understand you have been anti ucm for so long that its hard to open your eyes and see what is going around you currently but UCM /ACM player base is what keeps this game alive these days, run them out and you run your self out.

"I don't care of LifeTank was originally designed specifically to be UCM. It is no longer in the hands of those players. Once the code leaves their hands, the control of that goes with it. Paraduck and C'Relic are the only maintainers that have a working version of LifeTank available to the public. Take it or leave it, you're stuck with what they give you until you make your own. Good luck. "

id like to see how you would feel about someone taking over your work and doing a 180 and taking it in a UCM friendly way. yea you wouldn't like it much would you? your statement about now they got the source and they can do what they want with it is ignorant.

the features stripped out of LT are trivial to release(publicly since there is private ones ) as a stand alone plugin. killbit is not secure. the way LT detects other plugins is also not secure( i can have skunkworks running beside LTxi right now if i wanted since its open source ) and if a person got fed up with how you guys are behaving and happend to make his plugin public, you would not be a happy camper luckily ive never agreed to releasing combat macros to the general public and id rather see these guys stop working on LT then to degrade it in to a craptank elgar use to give to these guys.

Yeah, I know. Our goal isn't to stop everyone from using the feature's we'd remove, but to stop most people from using it. Besides, if you have the knowledge and ability to get around the checks, you likely have the ability to write your own plugin, script, or whatever to implement the features we've removed.

That is the EXACT reason I would never hand my code off to someone else. The developers of LifeTank DID hand the code out to everyone... partially because it was leaked, and partially because they didn't want to maintain it or own it any longer. That was their "mistake" if you want to put it that way. And to make sure my work isn't abused, I don't release it. Although I'd support anyone making changes to it at that point if it were in line with what Turbine wanted and showed.

Until TURBINE says otherwise, UCM is not allowed. Regardless of how YOU personally feel about it, UCM is against the CoC. I don't care that "everyone does it", or that "ac would die without UCM"... the fact of the matter is, UCM IS STILL against the CoC.

Ultimately, your opinion really makes little difference overall to the development community until TURBINE listens to your opinion and does something about it (in either way). Turbine says UCM is against the CoC. Turbine has shown their displeasure of Admin Alarms on multiple occasions. What more do you need to know that it is illegal to UCM, and that you should not be doing it?

Also.. you can all threaten to quit all you want. I honestly think that if enough old players found out that there were no more UCM's they'd re-subscribe. UCMs are actually the reason that the server populations are so low to begin with. The servers dying is because of YOU. You may be what is keeping AC alive currently, but you're also the parasite that is killing it.

long long time ago in a galaxy far away UCM was not against the CoC what so ever. however the anti ucm crowd had a lot to say about it, every time the UCM crowd pointed out that macroing was NOT against the CoC you guys just kept on complaining till you got it your way. while the Shoe might be on the other foot now the concept of letting your voice be heard untill it finally gets through the devs heads hasnt. just like you guys would not stop complaining about combat macros back then you shouldnt expect us to now either.

My opinion does make a difference just like your opinion made a difference when UCM got outlawed. game devs tend to cow to the want of the general public and there is a hell of a lot of UCM users these days than there are anti ucm players. On my old server Wintersebb, even some of the most anti macro people that still play "actively" have adopted a live and let live attitude towards people that ucm, heck they even level in the same fellow with UCM's. its like that on a lot of servers maybe you should log in and play the game "actively" a little and see for your self. as to what more do i need to know how UCM is illegal? game CoC's change more than you change underwear. its not written in stone and what is allowed (combatmacros) is outlawed the next and what is outlawed (combatmacros) can be made Legal the next its just a matter of who cries the loudest at the time for the devs to listen to them. if enough people stand up and keep pressuring for the UCM rule in the CoC to be changed back, it will be, that is how you guys changed it after all remember ??

"Also.. you can all threaten to quit all you want. I honestly think that if enough old players found out that there were no more UCM's they'd re-subscribe. i havent seen where i said im threatening to quit ? any change made to lt doesn't affect me. however when they did take out the log on death feature half of darktide was about to quit. also while you might think of combat macro users as parasite's what realy lead to the down fall of AC was the devs changing fundamental aspects of the game. while i might agree with you the reason why AC lost some new subs might have been because the game was viewed as a Hacked game, but the hack they were talking about was decal it self NOT just combat macros. i will also bet AC has lost more subs because of the Xp chain nerf and UCM CoC change than any anti macro player quitting because of them. i can respect your view but in my veiw the "parasite" that killed this game are the ones that complained about these issues till they were nerfed and ultimately killed this game.

as to anti UCM players coming back to this game if every combat macro was removed from this game, i think you need a reality check AC is one big grind and no one is going to come back and manually level too 275 , i know what you are going to say people would come back for the community, well what you forget is that those people most likely are part of a new community called world of warcraft why would they down grade to ac where 10-20 people might be logged on at the time (remember this is on a server with no acm/ucm online). every time someone posts how they miss ac and the old days they are reminded by players that have just came back to just remember those days and dont think you can come back and relive them the past belongs in the past and AC is no where what it was 7 years ago.

Para and Crelic,

I'm going to release a version of skunkworks that will run beside LT(for those that don't have the know how) just because both of you are hypocrites and won't admit it. If you admit your liers and stop being an asshats I will consider not doing it.

You have 5 days, to say your sorry to the AC community as whole and to the people that use SW for NON UCMING or Macroing Reasons.

And as soon as you release that version they add it to the ban list. Users have to build their own version, and don't worry about doing it yourself only if Paraduck and Crelic admit something, I'll be doing it no matter what.

/e wonders if this falls under baiting, and how the community would react to multiple versions of the same plugin being publicly avilable.

Eps they would have to release a new version of LT everytime if it works like Decal does(updating memlocks). If it comes down to it I'll just make a write up on how to do it and people can do it themselfs.
