Uncheck nav priority and it will attack critters anywhere along the nav route.
If you are in a dungeon and happen to get stuck on walls and can't get back to your nav route, turn the attack and approach ranges down (especially the approach) and use LOTS of nav points along the route.
Pretend this is a wall, hehe..

If you get stuck around a corner where the (X) is, and you are using only a few nav points (1 and 6), and 1 was the last one you hit, it is going to attempt to go back to 1. But...if you were at one and got pulled around the corner by a critter, with many points, the last one you hit would be 4 or 5, which Vtank will then attempt to get back to since it was the last one crossed.
Kinda crappy, but maybe it gets the point across.
