"The student engaged the officers and was shot," the Brownsville Police Department said in a statement. An ambulance was called, and it rushed the student to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Israel Tapia, a spokesman for Cameron County Justice of the Peace Kip V. Johnson Hodge. No other students or employees were injured. 	It's Texas. People hold their kids out of first grade till they are 7 or 8 so they can play football. Also see Florida.

	If his birthday was around August-September, it's not that bad. I was 14 in 8th grade, my birthday was in September. I was one of the older kids in my class, but my class had kids born between August through July. So say the kid is held back one year, or his parents redshirt him for sports, that would explain why he is 15. You guys are making it sound like he was held back 3 or 4 times, which doesn't appear to be the case. This kid would've been 19 when he graduated, instead of 18 like most other kids. -----signature----- Doug Doug
