I live just outside Memphis...it might as well be MLK day here every day as much as it is talked about.
Racism is still VERY strong here...and if you've ever played any games/read forums on the internet that weren't heavily modded, then you know that it's still strong.

the difference is that the irish can blend in with all the other white people...it's hard for a black person to blend in a group of whites who don't like them.

It wasn't the same treatment. They weren't slaves. They were newcomers. Big difference.

It was days off from school as a child. Later it was trips to the MLK memorial downtown (I grew up outside of Atlanta). Now it's days my son doesn't have to go to school and the laughs that I get from him bringing home awesomely colored supposed to have been black people pictures and him telling me that there's no school on Monday because it's King Junior day.
