Not sure WHICH is the problem....

you should be a phone harpy and find out exactly what got you rejected. as skeptical person i would venture that there might be a reason why they don't offer the information voluntarily and why it could mean hours of phone time to find it out. sounds to me exactly like a company policy banking on the fact that most people aren't going to be persistent harpies and investigate it themselves.

as for your continuing health problems and their connection to your work i have similar advice- investigate!. I don't know what your issues are but i would treat it as if it was a migraine. often a migraineur's environment or life situations are 'triggering' their migraines but in other cases it seems to be following its own rhythm or cycle. if you make a journal that documents your pain or whatever along with what's goin on you might be able to see a pattern. then you have a document to show the next doctor that indicates that your problem is either dependent or independent of your environment. 'stress' is probably like a stereotypical response that is true for 99% of people or something. find a doctor who is willing to entertain the notion that you are the 1% and try to prove it to him with your journal!~

I have a journal and I have taken it to all of my docs however when they run tests associated with the symptoms, everything comes back negative. It's something affecting my nervous system which is why I have a feeling it may be related to my workstation area. I had a $700 allergy panel done that covered just about everything under the sun and it came back all negative. There is a power line run directly under my desk and I am wondering if it wasn't shielded properly. The guy in charge of construction for this building was convicted of fraud, embezzlement and a bunch of other shady dealings and he had pocket contractors which gave him kickbacks so who knows where they skimped. In any case, I need the time to take care of my family, fix up the house, get stuff sold and over all just get out of this dead end job so me finding the answer isn't really a high priority. I just refuse to bankrupt my family over the fact that some bureaucratic BS keeps me from being insured when I am willing to pay the premium (within reason). I'm going to call them, I just have to figure out a time to get away from my desk to do so. I have ZERO privacy where I work.

Velvet, we are looking at moving back east to where his family is. I've thought about the south of the border deal but once again, I need connections as it can often backfire if you just randomly pick El Doctoro. I have a deviated septum but have had that since I was 7. Most of my sinus issues are from the dry climate here. The whole situation is hopefully not going to take more than 8 months so I was just hoping to have coverage for that time period.

COBRA is horribly expensive.

But if you don't sign up for it, you'll wish that you had.

edit: Doesn't BT's employer offer any insurance?

You losing your insurance counts as a "life changing" event for him to open enrollment back up and sign you all up...

Yeah, whatever recent post I missed that you're eluding to...

Well, I missed it.

Was there a post where Sarena made fun of people who pay for health insurance or something?

They have one that costs more than COBRA and has crappier coverage so...yeah, no thanks. He's a contractor and the reason he gets paid as much as he does is because they don't have retirement/insurance bennies as part of his contract.

I think your employer must lay you off before you can get COBRA benefits. It's very expensive too.

I was thinking something similar and I know it is expensive. I think it was around $700ish when I got RIF'd from my last job and that was just for me...

It's at full cost, so it includes your contribution as well as your employer's.
