Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul’s press secretary Moira Bagley tweeted on Monday that Transportation Security Administration officials were detaining her boss in Nashville, Tenn.
“Just got a call from @senrandpaul,†Bagley tweeted at about 10 a.m. on Monday. “He’s currently being detained by TSA in Nashville.â€
LOL STORY
I bet some people going to get their asses chewed once this guy gets finished raising hell over it. Senate hearings anyone?

I don't generally like Rand or Ron Paul - but most of the current TSA behavior is a violation of the 4th Amendment protection against unreasonable search (and seizure).
But people are so pansy-ass, that they put up with it for the pseudo-safety.
Someone just got a gun on to a plane last week - yes they managed to stop the plane before it took off...but they got a gun past these minimum-wage idiots.

LOL.
So he refused a search and got detained... par for the course. Heaven forbid our officials aren't treated like the rest of us.

This. If jobs are lost over this, there should be a bigger outrage than this guy being a little TO'd.
Then again, the TSA should just be gotten rid of in the first place, so whatever.

That isn't his point. The point is no one should be subjected to the full-body pat-downs the TSA does. He's one of the few people who can refuse it and make a stink about it just to get the point across, without being arrested at the same time.

So the government should say that people are no longer freely allowed to enter into private contracts?
If you actually read the terms and conditions of your contract with the airlines to fly on their planes you will see that you have consented to a search.
It is the same as a person giving permission to a cop to search their house without a warrant... it is not a 4th amendment issue.
Too bad the the M.D. does not know how law works.

The Oatmeal Butterscotch paired with a Snickerdoodle
turned my cynical penis into a happy vagina
Then after an Oatmeal Cranberry and Double Chocolate,
it made my new vagina spontaneously sing the Trolololo Song in an elevator.

You mean that service contract that is not attached to tickets, and you have to dig on corporate websites to find?
Good luck getting that upheld in court. It's the same kind of blanket boilerplate that has been tossed out multiple times before.
I agree that people, and corporations should be able enter into private contracts - but if they involve boilerplate, and absolutely ZERO transparency - it becomes another issue entirely.
Still doesn't impact the fact that people are giving up their constitutional protections for zero increased safety. No one is ever made aware, when they are purchasing a ticket, that they are giving the company selling the ticket a right to search their person, or belongings - as a condition of service.

they should be required to hire their own private security to conduct the searches and pass that cost on to their customers.
This should not be run by the government, and certainly not charged to taxpayers who don't even fly.
