Computer speaker in the hundred dollar range? |
I have altec lansing speakers 2 smalls, 1 subwoofer on the floor -- that I paid about what you are asking about 10 years ago -- still in service.
If you got 14 years out of your last altecs and liked them -- I would say stick with the brand and look at what they have now in the same price range -- at least they seem to last.

Sounds like the same setup I have and they are still working...and it's not the sound card either. At this point I do not know what it is. If I can't figure it out I'll just use the computer with no sound.

Ah, I has this issue. Go into sound settings and make sure you have the proper speaker setup selected, ie 2.1, 5.1, etc.
It really jacked with my sound until I changed [it]. It defaults to something weird I can not remember.
