Do you know anyone who has gotten an abortion? |
I'm not trying to punish anyone, I'm trying to say that if anti-abortionists shove their beliefs in my face, then they better back it up with a viable alternative. No, not having sex is not a viable alternative. You've seen what celibacy leads to (see: Catholic church.)
Birth control is great, but yes, it does fail. Yes, there is user error, like with everything else. User error in a car kills people, can't ban driving either.
So yeah, it just irritates the crap out of me when someone calls a non-viable (aka could not live outside of the womb) embryo or fetus a baby that's being murdered. It's not the same thing.

A viable alternative? Oh goodness I dont know, maybe people should try some personal responsibility for a change before resorting to killing their unborn child. We need to be teaching our future generations that just because you get yourself in a terrible mess doesnt mean that there are no consequences for your actions. Yeah you wanna have sex at 16 or 17 years old before you're mature enough to even have sex emotionally? Well if youre mature enough to make that decision then you're mature enough to handle the consequences. Thats why the youth today feel like nothing is ever their fault. No one is teaching them basic personal responsibility. There is a quick fix for every bad situation. I think if we send that message via our actions instead of saying "dont have sex dont have sex dont have sex" that would get the message across alot more effectively.

Hasn't the law (in most states) decided that children under 18 aren't even capable of consentual sex? If so, how do you expect them to handle the consequences of something they aren't even capable of consenting to?
