I always take the receipt, if paying by credit card, so I can do my accounting.

Why don't you ask them why they are asking?

Task complete.

Location: Starbucks drive-thru
Me: "Can I ask you a really stupid question?
Ashley: Sure, <giggle> what?
Me: Why do you ask people if they want a receipt or not?
Ashley: I dunno, I guess to save paper since I watch a lot of people take the receipt and crumple it up and throw it in their back seat. And uh... I guess it's more convenient for people.
Me: OK. I was just wondering if there was a movement of some kind that i missed.
Ashley: <laugh> I think people just got smart.

For those of us that have to do expense reports it makes sense. Typically for crap purchases I dont want one, however if I am even paying for a coffee with my corporate card I need to have a receipt so I can expense it.

That, and for any small business you may want to be saving them for tax purposes.

If you think my opinion is idiotic, re-read yours.
Dont worry I will give my opinion anyways.
The PvP MMO is NOT a "niche" market, Mythic is just a "niche" company.

Another reason is for you to verify that they rang up the correct amount and didn't overcharge your card. *shrug* Makes sense, right? Come home and find out two weeks later you spent $113 for one trip to Starbucks would be pretty maddening.

And for this reason alone I get the receipt. So many dumbasses these days, and I have had this happen on occasion.
