Let's be honest. Anyone who brings a championship home is a hometown hero in sports.

season should have stayed canceled if those are the 2 best dunks so far
Yeah, if you're not impressed by that then you just aren't impressed by dunks or basketball, period.

Steve Nash is a hometown hero in Phoenix, despite being from Canada originally, and never having won a championship either.
If you spend the majority of your NBA career on one team, you become a hometown hero imo.

Neither. Once you leave (not counting coming out of retirement), you go from hero to traitor. That's how it goes.

No, because he spent the majority of his career (his best years) on one team.
Kevin Garnett is not a traitor either. He gave his best years to the Wolves then went to the Celtics to win his ring.
Nobody would hate Nash right now if he left Phoenix to chase a ring.

When did society decide that every guy in a police uniform is a hero?

Well you have to forgive Jordan for that debacle with the Wizards. He was pushed into that mess with all the management/ownership issues.
