I have a smile size hole in the right shoe of the ones I am wearing right now. Quite a while.

Work shoes about once every 5-6 months.
Regular shoes...depends I have some that are 10+ years old and fine, a pair I just bought a year ago. Though I basically have 3 pairs of every-day shoes and one pair for work.

i replace shoes once the current pair cease to serve their primary function
dress shoes get replaced when they aren't suitable for a formal environment
running shoes get replaced when they break down
casual shoes get replaced when they get too dirty
sandals/flipflops get replaced when they start to smell bad

just got a new pair of New Balance last weekend
so about every 6-8 months
I wear them all day at work plus other times

When they start looking ratty I will take them off the everyday wear list, but generally keep them until they fall apart to do dirty work or hiking or whatever.

i dont buy new shoes very often. pretty much only if i have to. im not in to buying new shoes all the time.
