Or the opposite. No I'm not home, I'm actually a couple blocks from work at the strip club getting hammered. That should be ok though right, I can be into work in like 2 minutes!

IT goes down, there is NO production, out in the warehouse, one guy doesn't show up, the others have to work a bit harder to get everything finished.
at most companies the little applications you use to do your job all run through an enterprise scheduler, and when one link in the chain breaks, the entire chain is then useless until you fix that one piece.

any place worth a damn will give you comp time for being "on call" anyway, whether you use it or not, because of the fact it restricts what and were you can go or do.
We do get comp time but only by the grace of our boss, not contracted anywhere. And yes it does!

Thanks for your responses. This was not meant to say anything was “changing†but just to make sure everyone understands what the expectations are when you are on call. No one has functioned outside of these requirements that I am aware of.
The reasonable expectation of response time to work is that you are within a “normal driving distance†to the facility for which you are on call. (English translation).
In other words, we don’t expect you to go to Austin when you are on call for the Galveston location, etc.
Yes, if you have an emergency of some sort, then you are not able to handle on call duties and should report this to your supervisor or me as appropriate so we can transition your on call to another person.
If you wish to meet with me please feel free to come by any time or schedule an appt with Outlook.
