I don't know how they couldn't see this coming. Entire family totally destroyed by this nutjob.

...An email Josh Powell sent to his attorney — and to a number of other people — helped police confirm that he deliberately set the fatal fire...

why would an attorney release that stuff, isnt it client attorney privilege?
I know nothing about being an attorney, but i have seen a bunch of Law & Order: SVU episodes

Not after the client is dead maybe?

Probably because he was the prime suspect in one murder, and just murdered 2 children?

If an attorney is representing you as a defendant, you can confess the murder to them and they have to keep their trap shut about it.

I'm guessing that since this particular email was unrelated to his wife's murder (and/or because his client is now dead) he could release it.

I was thinking it was less that the attorney released it and more that they looked at his email because he just murdered children.

But, I don't know the whole rights thing on that part, especially after the suspect is dead. I guess the attorney might have to allow them to look? I watch less crappy crime shows than aon.

"and to a number of other people"

wouldn't that make it not confidential?

I saw all the episodes of Breaking Bad on netflix, so I can speak with authority on attorney client privilege. Even if you start dealing meth, they not only can't tell on you they have to help you launder money and find you some guys to help move product.

I saw that too, tant, but right after that in the story it says his attorney said he received an email from Josh Powell, etc. so the attorney also said something about it.

But yeah if he cc'ed a bunch of people it would be pretty obvious he sent it to his attorney anyway. Maybe that automatically negates any client/attorney confidentiality right there, since he obv. wasn't keeping it a secret.
