My husband used to have an Audi TT. There wasn't enough room in the car for a spare tire, not even a donut. So the manufacturer would put in a patch kit and a can of fix-a-flat. I kid you not.

Wataf? I had a spare in my MR2 and that's much smaller than a TT. Sounds like marketing decided a spare was less important than trunk space to sell cars.

Some cars are no longer even coming with a spare. Fix a flat type of inflator in a can or run flat tires.

this i think its asinine.

This thread begs the question: do the "women" of ACF use a funnel to get that much sand in their vagina or do they just slide around the beach like an angry Roomba? -deadcactus-

Well, I'm not going to get out on the interstate and change a flat on the side of the road. I want to live. I'll just use my cell.

Spair, is that like space-air?

Because I have a spare in my car.

Actually it wasn't so much the trunk space as it was engine size combined with a tiny back-seat. Seriously, it had a back seat. If you were over 5 feet tall the manual said you weren't supposed to sit back there. But that pretty much ate up any trunk space there was. There literally was no room for a spare tire, lol.

The best part is I drove that TT down from Utah to Texas for my father-in-law's wedding in 2004. Husband was out of the country so it was me and the 2 little ones (ages 5 and 2) and the golden retriever, plus our baggage and my sewing machine and serger. (I was making their dresses for the wedding and didn't have time to finish them before we left.) I put the 5 year old in the front seat (airbags turned off), the 2 year old in the left-side back seat, folded down the right-back seat and that was where the golden went. The sewing machines were on the floor behind the driver's seat (they fitted perfectly) and what little baggage we had either was on the floor in front of the passenger front-seat or packed very tightly in the tiny space behind the left-side back seat.

It was actually quite a comfortable drive, even with all that. And it was fun watching people's jaws drop when we arrived and started unloading. I guess it helps that I am a VERY light traveler, for the most part.
