I don't remember saying I was disgusted by the holiday, I said I think it's fake. And yep, I'm not celebrating it because I'm not with anyone this year. In past years I did participate only because I didn't want to hurt her feelings by ignoring what I consider to be a fabricated day. Her expectations were the reason I cared. This year I'm free. So yeah. Enjoy your day.

its not a made up hallmark holiday, it's a religiously based holiday like most others, St Valentine's Day... Valentinus a Martyred Saint of Rome.
Giving of cards is traditional, not something Hallmark (or any other card company) decided to attach to the holiday.
If you want to blame someone for making Valentine's Day about romantic love, blame Chaucer.
