It's okay to spend my tax dollars on creationism as science but this is offensive?

Interesting, he sounds a lot less crazy when you do some reading on him.

You misspelled "more".

I have no idea where you get such crazy thoughts...

That said, Santorum wants to go back to Iraq and cut taxes by a trillion dollars a year. I don't like either of those ideas, so he's not getting my vote. Ron Paul's goofy ideas (gold standard, et al.) aren't dealbreakers;

They should be. Paul has had enough sense to admit publicly that it would be impossible to actually return to a gold standard, but he still espouses a deflationary policy that is far, far worse for our economy than anyone's tax cut.

You kept yammering about this, so I started reading about it. And I have to say, I agree. I would totally vote for Paul if it weren't for that gold standard crap, honestly.

I actually respect most aspects of libertarianism. I'm definitely a liberal, but I would find a complete withdrawal of government in many areas to be a tolerable compromise between big-government liberals and big-government conservatives. I also find Paul himself to be quite likable. It's the open deflationary policy that I simply can't tolerate.

Anybody who thinks we need a gold standard can simply buy gold, and feel smug about avoiding fiat currency. After all, isn't a gold standard the ultimate currency manipulation, and the government interfering in the currency market?

I like many things that Ron Paul promotes but it's his dealing in absolutes that kill me. He carries himself with a strict all or nothing mindset. That rigid ideology and many of his policies simply do not work in a globalized 2012.
