Is President and Supreme Commander Obama even going to need to campaign? |
Gas prices are going to spike. Obama will need to campaign, framing the cost increase as the result of Wall Street speculators.
In addition, whoever wins the GOP nomination will change their tune to be more in line with the independents, and thus their ratings will go up. The far right will be upset for a bit, but they'll forget about it by November.
This election will actually be about who can get more of their own side out to vote. That might mean more positive ads then we've seen in the past.

The Republican appeal to whack jobs who believe in ridiculous crap is what got them into this.
Just look at who their biggest fans are on ACF, our little society is a microcosm of the USA voting public, if you look at it that way it all falls into place.

Gas price spikes are a easy win for Obama, just needs to point to the republican lust for subsidizing the industry.

Is there not a 3.8% sales tax on homes going into effect in 2013 snuck into the Health Care bill, while the housing market is still attempting to recover?
Are grocery prices not rising?

Is the deficit not wildly out of control?

he will use it to push his message first. It will read something like this
"Oil companies are paying next to nothing in taxes. They are getting subsidized by the US Tax Payers. They are reaping record profits for companies. The republicans wont let me pass legislation to make them pay their fair share, and they want you the tax payer to continue to subsidize them."
Its of course not as simple as that but thats pretty much the message that will be delievered and eaten up. Then out of the kindness of his Overlord heart to help the little guy, the truckers, farmers, he will tap into the reserves.

Global warming cutting production combined with China and India's rising middle class creating a higher demand for food is the cause of this. Obama isn't the cause.
